We wanted a quick, light lunch and popped into the Holiday Inn at Worth - I knew it wouldn't be cheap but was disappointed in the service. The restaurant was closed we were told but we could sit in the bar and have lunch from the bar menu - we both chose gammon, egg and chips (simple?). 20 minutes after our order had been taken we watched a group of people, (possibly workers at the hotel, possibly staff) come in a door, queue up at the restaurant/brasserie counter, get served lunch, sit down and eat it and meantime we continued to wait. A young man came across after we'd been waiting 30 minutes and apologised for the delay and said the chef had said it would be 5 minutes. I asked why and he said he didn't know was just told to tell us it would be 5 minutes. 5 minutes later the girl behind the bar called out an apology and said it would be 2 minutes. We eventually got out meals 5 minutes after that - 40 minutes to cook two servings of gammon egg and chips. Yes we got an apology for the delay but no explanation and really there isn't a reason for it - we were there and ordered before the people who were served and had finished their meals by the time we got ours - I wish they'd just said they weren't serving lunch until after 12.30. Such a shame as this is local to my daughter and handy for us to pop into and meet for lunch... maybe not.
