“great value”
Reviewed 5 July 2013

2 min walk from the north terminal, clean and modern, EXCELLENT customer service for check-in and during the stay. Beds and linens a little lacking, but for a 'discount' hotel - this place is ahead of their discount peers, and perfect for traveling in/out of Gatwick!

Stayed at this hotel because of an early morning flight. We arrived at this new hotel and eventually got to the reception on the 2nd floor. A new experience at checking in, a machine and not a face in sight. We eventually got our key from the machine and proceeded to the lift, all 3 lifts were going nowhere with lots of people in them, why because they had not been told of the room key had to be used to activate the lift to go up, all this new tech... and no one to help ?. Arrival in the room and we found this room to be very good with all what was required and had a good night sleep.

At £89 for accommodation (one night) and valet parking (eight nights) this was great value for money without any significant compromises. The hotel is directly opposite the car park and terminal. The room and bathroom were compact, clean and well maintained. We didn't use the restaurant. More lifts would be useful (it seems from comments here that the hotel is already on to that) and noise from the train that runs between terminals was noticeable at times but neither were big problems. The price and location make this is a very good hotel airport.

This Premier Inn in fairly new. It offers "no frills" accommodation. We found it it excellent. Great reception, with welcoming staff to take you through the simple screen-based process. Very comfortable room, excellent bar and restaurant where we had dinner with our grandchildren and their parents. The reception girl very kindly offered to organise an early dinner reservation and took the trouble to mention that the restaurant was often booked up so we should decide now! The restaurant has good food choices - surprisingly good too. My duck was excellent.

The hotel entrance is on the ground floor but reception is on the first floor via a lift. This presented us with no problems but I did hear some moaning from others. The North Terminal is 50m away across the road. An easy start to the flight process and we shall be staying there again.

Room Tip: this is a new hotel and built for the convenience of travellers. I doubt any room has much advantag...

Stayed here as a family to break up a 10-hour drive to the airport and a 23-hour flight to Australia.

Our room (family room - one queen and two singles) was fantastic value for money - spotless, comfortable and quiet. A surprising amount of storage space too for those of us who don't travel lightly...

Reception was chaotic with far too many people & their associated luggage crammed into a small space. The staff were efficient but it was obvious there weren't enough of them - or enough space - to cope with the amount of guests.

Dinner at Thyme restaurant was a disaster. We waited 40 minutes for a starter and another 40 for the mains to arrive. Neither course was worth waiting for. Much to the children's disappointment, we skipped dessert for fear it would take another 40 mins for two bowls of child-size ice cream to arrive and by this time it was getting far too late.

The children had been given laminated menus with a puzzles/crosswords/colouring-in on the back. However, they weren't permitted to use them. After asking the waiter for some pens so they could complete the activity sheet, he returned with a picture of Minnie Mouse to colour in and four crayons - hardly thrilling stuff for a 9 & 6 year who have had to wait 40 mins for a single piece of spongy garlic bread and an overlooked corn on the cob (which, in fairness, we had deducted from the bill after complaining).

This hotel could be a fantastic value-for-money no-frills all-rounder if only it could up its game in the reception and restaurant areas.

Excellent combination of price and quality.
Though reception was packed because the terminal was practically closed for a couple of hours because of a bomb threat and there was limitee access to the hotel, the reception people did their best and we had a very good room. No noise, very good quality in breakfast and we also had a great dinner. After a big dissapointment staying for 6 nights in a Premier Inn in the center of London, that night gave back some credits to Premier Inn chain.

We landed at the South Terminal and caught the shuttle to the North Terminal. As you get out, the Premier Inn is down the lift and across the road. It was very busy checking in and we had a short wait to catch the lift up to reception, but staff were on hand directing everyone into lifts. The chap at check in was very pleasant and recommended we book our dinner at the Thyme restaurant. We had 2 rooms on the second floor and they were clean and comfortable. We did not hear any plane noise and the black out curtains are very efficient. We had a lovely dinner at the Thyme restaurant and the menu and prices are very good. For breakfast you can choose from the Thyme restaurant or Costa.
The location of the Premier Inn is also convenient for renting a car in the North Terminal from Avis etc.
