Only stopped here one night on a coach holiday, it was ok, rooms need a bit updating, staff friendly, liked the bar area and restaurant, food wasn't bad, dinner was a ok affair but the breakfast was really good, a large range of food on offer, would I stay again, if I was in the area, and wanted a one night stay, then yes,

After a very successful works Christmas dooo at the Britannia last year (December 2012) we decided to book again for Christmas 2013. Cordette could not help me enough to accommodate the needs of a diverse group of people. We once again had a good night, the food was plentyful and filling and the bar prices were very reasonable. We will be loking out for the flyer arriving for Christmas 2014. Thank You Britannia x

This hotel is most definitely in need of an update, it is very dated, and shabby. The bad ! even if the walls, carpets and furnishings are not dirty their age and wear makes them look and feel so. We were waiting to be collected on a Saturday afternoon but could not get a drink initially as the bar does not open until 3.00pm. Many of the chairs in the bar area are torn, The breakfast was adequate though not great (deep fried sausages more akin to the ones you would expect from the local chipy). Whilst the beds were comfortable the room fittings and décor are again of an age that everything looks and feels grubby. The Good! The best thing about this hotel is the fact that the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, though their are to few of them. The night porter/cleaner was an especially nice bloke. The position of this hotel is OK if you do not intend going out but is somewhat stuck out away from any other venues.

We stayed for i night at the Britannia Hotel Bolton, having travelled from Scotland to attend a
funeral. We booked Dinner Bed and Breakfast and my first impression at the reception area
was that the place looked a bit tired and could do with a lick of paint as the walls were badly marked in places and the carpets were also grubby in need of a clean. On arriving to the room
we unpacked the few items which we had and went to freshen up before going down to eat
we were totally taken aback the toilet floor was absolutely crawling and I mean crawling with ants
hundreds of them coming out the door into the small hallway and into the room there were several on the bed, long story cut short we were moved but the night was a long one neither of us could sleep.I wrote to the group which I was told by the receptionist to do, the reply was sorry but we will give you another night in one of our hotels to make up for it, I explained none of their hotels were anywhere near us and it would incur a big expenses for us take that option up for i night but we would accept a refund, after all we had an awful night, I was told that's our offer no refund would be considered and don't expect a reply to any further correspondence as this will not be forthcoming this was from Cordette Heyes Hotel Supervisor, I am so glad she does not work for me I would hate to think that a member of staff would handle a genuine complaint in this manner
I did write back to this lady and voice my feelings as regard this attitude but true to her word she did not reply. I would never stay in another Britannia Hotel again even if I got it free of charge, they should start to spend some money on their Hotels and do a bit of cleaning up
this Hotel is definitely not worth a visit stay well clear

I recently stayed at this hotel with a friend and I can not sing its praises enough. Its in a brilliant location just a minute off the motorway and a 5 minute drive from the town centre or the football stadium and shopping park. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. On arrival we checked in at reception and were greated by a smiley receptionist. We then headed up to the room which was clean, light and airy. We then ate in the restaurant where again the staff were fantastic and the food was brilliant. The bar is reasonably priced and the bar staff also really friendly. We definitely felt really welcomed in this hotel. Would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Stayed here for 1 night on a national express xmas market trip to Leeds and Manchester. Having read some of the previous reviews I packed my bedsocks and hottie and was prepared to be unimpressed. My friend and I booked single rooms which turned out to be doubles, on the ground floor and close to each other as requested. It was very clean, lovely and warm and the bed was comfortable. Had a lovely long hot bath before bed, fluffy towels and a warm bathroom - luxury.
However dinner let the hotel down, 3 choices, 2 fried ( chicken or fish) and veg. lasagne which was mostly the latter. Minestrone soup was tasty and hot with crusty bread. followed by gateau or tinned fruit salad then coffee. There was a happy hour from 4 - 8pm with drinks for £2 40, beer, wine and spirits.
breakfast next morning was better, both continental and traditional both serve yourself but tasty and substantial. I would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: ask for what you want when booking as they do try and oblige
