“Great Stay”
Reviewed 1 September 2014

This hotel is in a great location where you can walk to all the shops and bars and restaurants are very close by, also within walking distance.
I booked two rooms for a family wedding and was so glad we stayed here. I had one executive family room and one twin standard room. The executive room had a small stocked mini bar although obviously this is all charged. There were mars bars and a few snacks with bottled water. The coffee was from the Little Coffee Company and a lot better quality than the normal instant sachets.

The rooms were beautifully clean and well decorated. We didn't eat at this hotel but you were issued with a 20% discount voucher for food or drinks from the bar and restaurant if you were in an executive room.

The only negative comments to say (all very minor) was that even though we booked a family room for three adults, there was no linen or towels for the third person but a quick call to reception sorted this out very quickly. Also after the housemaids had been round after our first night we still only had enough coffee and mugs for two people and only two bottles of water. As I said this was very minor and didn't ruin our stay.

I would definitely stay here again and intend to in the near future.

Great hotel, great staff and great location.

Stayed here for two nights with my husband and two young sons as we were visiting the nearby 'Gullivers World'. On arrival we had some difficulties checking in, we booked through a third party website and paid in full when we made the booking but the receptionist insisted that payment for the room was still outstanding. Had to pull up the confirmation email on my phone to prove I was correct. However, the receptionist did apologise and gave us a free drink voucher (although it was only for one person!).

The room was fine, air-conditioned, clean and a fair size. Beds comfortable and the hotel provided a travel cot for our youngest son.

Swimming pool was also nuce, much enjoyed by the children.

The big letdown was breakfast. On arrival we paid £9 each for both mornings (£36 in total), to have the buffet style breakfast. The children eat free. The first morning breakfast was a disaster, the buffet area is very small and there were people stood around everywhere waiting for specific food items/ fruit juices to be brought out. Judging by tge comnents of 'this is ridiculous' etc, Everybody was getting fed up in the same way. I did not actually manage to sit down with my husband to eat breakfast because of this. However, the worst part was serving my 18-month-old son frozen hash brown (literally frozen solid straight from the freezer!!), when i returned to check, the whole tray were frozen, i assume somebody had brought out the wrong tray. My husband was infuriated by this and went to reception to complain with the frozen hash brown in tow (because he had no joy whatsoever with the waiters/waitresses). The response from reception at first was 'aah yes but it was only one tray'. They're excuse to the queue of 5/6 customers waiting to complain about the shambles at breakfast was 'it's because 9-10am is peak time'. If they are aware of this, surely they should prepare for it?! Anyway, after much discussion, we did get our money back for breakfast.

Nice hotel, great location, shame about the service at breakfast!

Hotel itself is not so bad considering what else is available in Central Milton Keynes. Staff helpful and polite. Breakfast is acceptable.

In general - typical UK Holiday Inn

...but in this one, internet access is quite truly shocking... Bring your own mifi!

Dear Gary K,

Thank you for posting a review, I was pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us.

With regards to the internet over the last few years we've invested heavily in providing our guests with super high speed, secure internet.
Technically, what sets us apart is the amount of bandwidth each hotel enjoys. So, unlike a basic broadband connection, we're able to guarantee excellent speed, not just for a few of our guests, but for hundreds.
In addition we offer 24/7 technical support should you require any assistance. To make all this possible we do need to apply a sensible charge for internet use.
We value and appreciate your comments and we are currently looking at how we meet all our guests expectations on the quality and price of internet’

Thank you once again and we hope to be able to welcome you back to the hotel in the future.

We chose the Holiday Inn in central Milton Keynes as it was in easy walking distance to the theatre where we had tickets for a show. It it fairly standard Holiday Inn fare, a 4 floor hotel with a central atrium that makes a nice place for a coffee or a drink from the bar. The interior of the building has a pleasantly light and airy feel. Our room was on the top floor and was clean and quite large. The hotel has its own car park which costs £6 for 24hrs (Aug 2014).Only staying there for the one night we did not make use of the onsite leisure facilities, or the restaurant for breakfast/dinner. Being so close to the shopping mall and a 10 minute walk to the restaurants in the theatre area, there is plenty of choice for food and drink. There were only two negatives. The first was a very poor wireless signal in our room (we did not have to pay for WiFi thank goodness - although some guests do - it depends on your 'deal'), and the second was a bed mattress that was a little tired and tended to roll the occupants together into the middle. That aside, the hotel fitted the bill nicely and we would consider it again.

For a landmark birthday I decided to take my work colleagues for afternoon tea at a hotel close by our work place. When we arrive the room was set out beautifully on the first floor with a small baloney for those who might wish a nicotine rush. We had one large table where we all sat and there more than enough sandwiches and cakes to share. The staff were efficent and catered well to everyone's needs. Even taking photographs for us. I would thoroughly recommend this for value for money and pleasant atmosphere where adults who wish to get together in a large beautifully light area away from the general restaurant.

Room Tip: Pleasant room space away from the general areas

Went here for a friends Silver wedding party, stayed overnight, comfy room, fine for 1 night & very reasonably priced, just across the road was the shopping centre, that was great, breakfast was nice, but didn't eat a lot, a great place to stay for a shopping trip.

I travel a lot and, on average, spend more than 3 nights a week in hotels on business. IHG is a good brand and this hotel has found ways to up their game.

Location is central, 15 mins walk from most things.

Refurbished rooms are really good, enough mains sockets, reliable WiFi, effective climate control. Executive rooms really are a cut above the usual.

Gym is small-ish, but has everything you need including a pool!

Customer care is a strong theme throughout, led from the front by their General Manager. Healthy foods on the menu are a new slant - filling and healthy.

My current new favourite Holiday Inn.

Recommended for the business traveller who needs a little more from their hotel than the standard offering.
