Lovely hotel in a great location!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 10 Aug 2021via mobile
We were really impressed on entering the hotel it looked really clean and modern.
Check in was easy and Mirka had been fantastic before arriving by sorting out my queries.
Due to an issue with my booking with central reservations, we kindly got upgraded to an executive room which was huge and suited our families two night stay.
Yes there’s only 2 paper cups in the room but I just wandered down and asked for more which wasn’t a problem.
We had a little fridge in the room which we used to store the baby milk which was handy.
We had the pool booked for the first night and although the changing rooms and showers weren’t open, it wasn’t a problem going back to the room to shower. Towels are provided at the pool.
Parking is £10 for 2 hrs but it’s right outside the hotel so no long walk to the car.
Location was great just a short walk to all the restaurants and shopping centres.
We visited gullivers land one day which is only 6 mins drive and then willen lake the next day which is beautiful. We drove to Xscape.

The hotel breakfast was adequate- yes there was a bit of a queue for the hot food but it moved quickly.

We had dinner one night in the hotel as three kids ate free (2 courses) from the kids menu with one main adult course or starter! Not sure people know about this which is in all Holiday Inn’s!

Overall a lovely stay

One of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Rooms are tired, depressing and basic. So much for COVID standard clean as our room was filthy, skirting boards dirty, dusty surfaces and a tired grimy bathroom. We were informed that the hotel was short of house keeping staff which is not what we wanted to hear during a pandemic. After arriving at our room we realised that the air conditioning , TV, and some lights were not working. In fact the AC has been broken in most rooms since last March apparently which would explain the cheap plastic fan in the room. We attempted to get breakfast included in the rate only to be met with the longest queue we just gave up and went into town. There must be better places to stay in MK than thus total dump, never again for me!

Room tip: Avoid at all costs

The room we were allocated can only be described as tired. The furniture was worn with chips out of the veneer. The bath room had large black mould spots around the bath. The hand basin plug hole had no cover.

There was a hole where the fridge used to be and the room safe was locked. This may have been a COVID 19 measure but this was not communicated. There was a kettle and paper cups were provided, but only two and these had to do us for our two night stay. Why not provide more paper cups or even a ceramic cup which could be washed in the sink?

We booked this hotel as it had a swimming pool but this was hardly open due to lack of staff.

The breakfast was adequate but on our second morning they had run out of croissants and pain au chocolate before service had ended.

On the positive side it is handily placed for several activities and and the shops.

Room tip: Note that there is a parking charge of £10 per 24 hours, but this was not secure parking.

Have stayed here many times. Sadly the room we had was very tired . Scrapes all over the room , no handle on the bathroom door, light cover missing on bedside lamp.

Staff are very friendly , breakfast in the restaurant very good and the price for a night at the moment including breakfast and overnight parking (£82). Clearly
the lobby , bar and restaurant have been updated , hope the rooms are next as ours certainly needed a little TLC.

Not stayed here for a few years and unfortunately whilst really well placed the rooms have been left needing some attention. I got an upgrade to an Executive room as a Platinum member but it was nothing great. Decor and bathroom feel like a throwback to a decade or two. Nasty looking stains on the wall and nothing in the room apart from a simple card to reassure you about Covid standards. I looked at the tv remote with great suspicion....not wrapped to show it had been cleaned and no door clean seal on the door like in Hiltons I've been using through Covid.

Room service like the room itself was pretty average. Location great like I said but if you can work with the location the Doubletree by the MK Stadium is far better than this.

Room tip: Avoid room 121 unless its been given a spruce up

I’ve stayed here a few times during the covid pandemic on business. Always felt safe, and looked after. The service was always very good, as was the quality of the superior rooms. Very thankful for the staff there, and will continue to use in the future.
