“Fantastic”
Reviewed 1 May 2012

Stayed here Sunday night (29th April 2012) for the Dungate wedding. Fantastic A* hotel and service. Room was great, had a four poster bed and it was soooo comfy, great nights sleep after dancing the night away downstairs. If you are considering this hotel for a wedding reception I would probably recommend it - I didn't do any of the reception organisation obviously - by the sounds of what my friend told me they are really helpful from beginning to end, the manager even came round advising everyone what they had ordered for their meals three months ago when we sent the RSVPs back - it's the little touches. I was a little concerned about their love for greyhounds, which was a theme in the immediate reception area, but hey it was quirky! Food at both the wedding and the breakfast were fantastic, high quality food. Mmmmm.

My boyfriend and I stayed here 2 weekends ago now. The setting and surroundings are lovely and the room was generously spacious with a nice green view. The interior of the hotel was to a good standard, and clean. However there were two problems:- 1) the food we ordered from room service... My boyfriend's pasta was very dry and my pepperoni pizza tasted like fish. 2) and the shower pressure in the room was dire. Very disappointing!! Apart from that, staff were friendly and overall an okay night away.

Just had my daughters wedding & reception at this hotel & it was wonderful. The rooms are clean & spacious & the food is excellent. The hotels best assets are its staff especially Adam who can't do enough for you. I recommend this hotel for weekends away & business trips but specially for functions like weddings. Only thing we found on the negative side was the musty smell in the corridors but this smell wasn't present in the bedrooms, function rooms, bar or restaurant so it wasn't a huge problem.

Room Tip: Didn't see the ordinary rooms but everyone was very pleased with their superior rooms.

We went to the hotel for a Sunday lunch having seen the advert in the local paper. Upon arriving at the hotel we first had a drink in the bar and were then shown to the restaurant. The waiter told us that the restaurant had not long been decorated and I have to say it is very fresh and modern and not what you would expect. I choose to have the mackerel starter and my wife had the soup, for main we both went for the roast beef which was very good. The beef was tender and was so nice to have homemade Yorkshire puddings. The Main course roast was only £9.95 which was less than we expected eating in a hotel. The waiter was very friendly and nothing was too much for him. We would return again very soon.

We were very fortunate to book two nights, two people, one room through Travel Zoo for £150 in total including:
Afternoon tea on one day - Excellent
Dinner one evening including a bottle of wine. Good menu choice, very good, high quality meals.
All staff, without exception, were very helpful, friendly and approachable.
Linen and bedding, clean, crisp and white. Although some of the decoration was a little tired, the bathroom was spacious and up to date.

Room Tip: Suggest you book the first floor as there will be no noise from rooms above.
