“Not as cheap as you would think!!”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

Very simply this is a basic hotel, mainly used as somewhere to lay ones head. The rooms are clean, double bed and simple bathroom (no separate shower unit).

The staff were very polite and friendly and were certainly there to help.

Only one thing to point out, and that is the price, having stayed there for the British GP, the prices had invariably been put up, £150 per room. If Travelodge could keep prices uniform it may be better!!

Room Tip: Rooms on a higher floor and preferably not backing onto the car park - you can hear the cars!!

newly refurbished, and lovely, spotlessly clean from top to bottom, rooms were kept cool (it was a hot day) everything working as it should be, and the bed was so comfortable i didnt want to get up, no disturbances during the night, what more could you ask for at £38 for the night, oh maybe a hairdryer in the room, but was given one on request at reception by carina, who was more than helpful with our requests of extra teas & coffees ect,
would recommend this hotel to everyone,

A travelodge will never be the height of luxury, but I was impressed when staying here recently on business. It was very clean and comfortable, and the room was at a perfect temperature. The bed was very comfortable. The TV and lights all worked as they were meant to. The shower was more than adequate. It was perfectly quiet, with no disturbances at all from within or from outside.

Two small gripes. I pre-paid for wifi, but could not get it to work. As it happens, I had perfectly good 3G reception so did not pursue the matter. Also, the packaged breakfast is OK but a little stodgy and uninspiring.

So probably 4.5 is the correct score, but as the basics were all spot on, I went for 5.

Good value and location. Staff nice BUT when a bunch of screeching, drunk females is in a nearby room, the enjoyment is lessened considerably. Road outside a bit of a racetrack too. Would not stay again-bed comfy though. Poor breakfast range. Expected more...guess I am more a Premier Inn type of gal :)

We stayed in a family room which comprised of a double bed and two single camp beds. All were very comfortable and the room was bright clean and tidy. The reception staff were very polite and courteous. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you need an overnight base.

Pretty decent for a Travelidge, to be fair.

The desk staff were very helpful & friendly whenever we spoke to them.

My only gripe (as with most hotels) is that we had a family room, which 3 people were staying in but the room was only set up for 2 - 2 towels, 2 cups. This meant a trip to reception to request more.

The room was clean, the bedding was clean, it's in a location easily accessible by public transport, although it did take me around 15 minutes to find after leaving the train station. Once I had located the hotel I realised it is literally a 5 minute walk.

When you're paying under £30 a night for a hotel, creating a song & dance about it being 'basic' is a bit silly, so I won't do that..

In case it'll help anyone - exit the station and turn left, following the footpath around to a gym. Turn left to go through the tunnel between the building next door & the gym. This brings you to a car park, continue to walk to the end of the car park, then turn right into a subway. Go under the first subway which brings you to another car park, continue straight walking across the car park, if you look ahead and slightly to the left at this point you should be able to see the sign for the Travelodge. When you come to the next subway go through then take a left through another sub, then a right and this will bring you out at the travelodge.
