I visited Camphill today during a visit to the local park with my young daughter for an afternoon break. We both chose from the excellent selection of on site baked cakes. My coffee and walnut was one of the best I have ever tasted and my daughter completely finished her huge slice of chocolate cake, so she must have liked it. The staff were friendly and attentive especially when my daughter fell over (she was pretending to be a ballerina) when they were helpful and showed concern. The interior is decorated well, spacious and very, very clean. We're definitely visiting again.

A wonderful vegetarian restaurant set within the Camphills community and run with a huge input from the residents. The service was very professional and all the staff are friendly and check to make sure all things are fine. The food is very reasonably priced and there are specials everyday. I had the brown lentil bolognaise with green beans and salad for just over 5 pounds and it was a generous portion. Others had the baked potatoes which again were large portion with toppings and salad. The puddings looked great but especially the raspberry pavlova. The restaurant itself is spotless and there are numerous tables outside as well. The grounds are good for a stroll and there is also a shop which sells products the residents make on site like baskets (they grow their own willow), bread, chutenys, jams, cookies, etc.
If it open it is worth having a look at the theatre building on site which is a spectacular venue and will host conferences and other activites - it is a charity so it supports the community not shareholders.

We were looking for lunch in Milton Keyne and decided to give this a try. We were not disappointed. We had soup and a sandwich which were both delicious, especially the salad dressing which I found out was made with raspberry vinegar which was available to buy in the nearby shop (which I did). We were served by several very pleasant people who had learning disabilites but managed extremely well, considering their disablities. I would imagine that all the clientele are aware of this fact and therefore are going to be more understanding and tolerant if little mistakes are made as they are certainly trying their best. The surroundings are also very nice if you fancy a walk around Willen Lake or visit the Peace Pagoda. We will be back because the food is so tasty.

The Camphill Cafe is a gem of a place just across the road from Willen Lake in Milton Keynes. Run by the Camphill Community, home to people with learning disabilities, the cafe is built on Steiner principles. Much of the food is organic and home grown, all of it is home made and they always have a great selection of cakes. The food is vegetarian, lovely soups and salads with daily specials of mains. The atmosphere is very welcoming and peaceful and it is a lovely place for mid morning coffee too. Opening hours are limited (approx 10.30 to 4) and it can get busy so go early for lunch. Meals are very inexpensive, especially considering the care that is put into them. There is also a lovely shop on site selling produce, wonderful bread and items made in the Camphill Community such a beautiful woven bags (very cheap too). Highly recommended!
