“One night at the Premier Inn Milton Keynes South”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

One night stay (family bereavement) - Excellent hotel - great room and staff very attentive and helpful - had breakfast (continental) in the Caldecott Arms attached to the hotel. Equally good service and value - staff were excellent.
Certainly will stay again - hopefully in better circumstances!!

Room Tip: No worries on this front as all the rooms overlook a quiet lake

I stayed here for a couple of nights on business and although PI's can all tend to be a bit 'samey' this felt different because of the slightly unusual building - there's a windmill attached.

I had a ground floor room with an outlook over the lake and it was pretty quiet apart from a family of ducks that were nearby but I don't mind a bit of nature!

The room was very clean and the staff friendly and helpful. This is the first time I've stayed at this PI in Milton Keynes because normally it's booked out and I can see why. This will be my first choice if I stay in the area again.

We found the accommodation to be warm, comfortable and quiet. We came in the very cold Easter holidays and it was nice to be able to eat next door and not venture out in the cold looking for places to eat ! The restaurant was great, full of character and a great menu, breakfast was nice too. The hotel had a pleasant outlook on to a lake and was accessible/easy to find, we found it a great base for visiting Woburn Safari Park. The only downside was the very small bathroom. Would definitely stay here again if we were in the area and would recommend to others.

Dear Guest,

Firstly, thank you for your wonderful feedback and five star review.

I am very pleased that you enjoyed our location, clean and comfy room, our team service and the restaurant. Our site is very much known for its traditional windmill and the quiet lake view. I completely agree with you that the Hotel is set in such a beautiful location, which gives our guests an amazing view. We really hope you will enjoy our big bathrooms once the refurb is finished.

I look forward to welcoming you back soon and thank you again for taking the time to write a review.

Brilliant location and setting - fine views and quiet rooms.

Room was spacious and kitted out as you would expect: comfortable bed, clean shower.

Reception staff were cheerful, friendly and helpful.

It was lovely going for a walk round the lake and looking back at the windmill.

The room was a good size, and was comfortable. The only criticism I would have is that the desk lighting was poor. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless with a good shower! The attached restaurant was very busy for Sunday night and the food was OK. Good value for a budget hotel.

We stayed for one night to break up out journey between attractions.
We liked the look of the building as we arrived, spotting the old windmill.
Check in was a bit slow but was okay. We had to pay on arrival, but this wasn't too much of an issue.
When we were given the room key, it was in a little card pouch which stated you get 30mins of free wi-fi! 30mins....? In this day and age what can you get done in 30minutes? We think it's a bit cheeky to have to pay after 30mins. We are already paying for the room & breakfast, why not allow a decent freebie? When you advertise rooms for £29, yet we paid £92!

The room was nice, although noted there were only 2 coffees & 2 teas. No hot chocolate or biscuits/fruit etc. which is expected of most hotels these days.
The bed was very comfortable, but the bathroom let the room down. The bathroom door didn't shut easily, as if it had dropped and needs planing. The flush button was clearly broken and made a horrible noise when used.

The view from the top floor room however was fantastic!

If we were ever in the area again we would probably return, but as it was a pit stop I doubt it!

This is an "older" style Premier Inn, there is no lift to the upper floor, and you have a physical key for your room. Having said that you do have a lovely environment. We had a top floor room overlooking the lake which was dotted with sailing boats and rowing boats when we arrived. It has an attached Pub which is great value with a range of food/drink (nothing gourmet but lots of choice), has a lot of outside seating if you want to enjoy the views, there is a children's play area, and ample parking. Staff were very friendly and helpful, our room was clean and spacious, the bathroom was clean & functional if a little tired by modern standards. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice, you order the hot food from the waitress and self select cereals, bread/toast, teas/coffees/ fruit juices. The restaurant/bar is the part of the building that was the old Mill so has a lot of character which makes a nice change.
