Not a great experience the food was late arriving, the staff werent very attentive and once the food did get there it wasnt all that. What really disappointed me was a lack of changing facilities DESPITE having a childrens menu. In the end I changed our daughter in the car in the rain :/

Although very busy and short staffed the service was excellent as was the food.
Good value for money.

I'm unable to review the food here because on our last two visits we have walked out prior to receiving our meals. On each occasion we had waited an hour, and been frustrated to see other dinners (who had ordered after us) being served first. Tonight, 30mins after ordering the waitress came back to apologise for the delay and said our order had been misplaced. We re-ordered and were assured that our meals would be given priority. By 9pm, having been assured 10 minutes previously that our meals were being plated up, we gave up and left. By then we had lost our appetite!

My husband and I used the Chiltern Hundreds more than once while staying in the Hilton Hotel over the road. Our first visit was a weekday lunchtime. the pub was almost empty at this time. It was a sunny day so we decided to sit outside at one of the attractive tables. I did think that a member of staff could have checked that the table was clean after the last customers had vacated it, especially as when my husband bought drinks at the bar there were three staff chatting, and only one of them actually working. There was bits of food on the floor by our feet too, we kicked it away!

Very good choice on the menu, with meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. It went the extra mile over and above what may be described as 'pub grub' We chose the fish sharing platter. A selection of fish and seafood served with granary bread, we were sorry when it was all gone! A good selection of lagers too, both bottled and draught together with prices which didn't shock.

The object of our visit to Maidstone was to see friends who live nearby, we met them on a Friday evining for dinner. We were not disappionted, the food was as good as our lunchtime experience the day before although this time we ate inside. It was a busy session but the table service was very good. Would definately visit again.

Part of the Chef & Brewer pub chain, this pub has a pretty good menu with a cheaper set menu available before 1700. In addition to standard pub drinks, they have real ale available changing from time to time.
