Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent attempted visit to Leeds Castle.

In response, I would have to say that Leeds Castle is much, much more than a house. We have 500 acres of gardens, parkland, a maze, falconry displays, Bird of Prey Centre, Battle for the Skies and play areas for those with children of all ages.

The castle admission prices are benchmarked against similar attractions, both local and national, before we set them and we openly promote them on our website and in extensively distributed leaflets so that visitors can check on the admission prices ahead of their visit.

Value for money is something which is personal to each visitor, but our tickets grant free admission for the rest of the year to allow us to claim Gift Aid. We are an independent charity, with no external funding and we rely heavily on the income from Gift Aid to supplement other revenues - without which we would simply not be able to operate and maintain both the Castle and grounds in such fine condition.

Our tickets do allow free admission to events such as Motors by the Moat, Medieval Jousting, Festival of Flowers, Half Term Activities, Christmas at the Castle and many more.

It is a shame that you were not able to see and experience Leeds Castle for yourself and I hope that you review our website to plan a full day out.

This trip was fantastic due to the excellence of ALL the staff during the course of the festival and dinner.
The staff went above and beyond to assist my friend who walks with the aid of sticks. We had not realised the Castle View restaurant , where we dined , was some distance from the main car-park where we had parked several hours earlier so a security guard came to our rescue at 9pm and drove us back to the car park.
Excellent and will return another time

Such a beautiful place and lots to see and do. Great for a day out and all through the year there are lots of different events to reuse your entry ticket. Nice tearooms, great maze with lovely shell grotto in the middle. Bird of prey display was very good. Grounds are beautiful to walk around.

This was our first visit and we should of visited before. So much to see and do. Allow all day so you have time to enjoy the grounds and find your way out of the maze.

I went by coach with a group. I was upset that we had to queue for over an hour to get into the castle and when we eventually made it into the castle we had to wait yet again as the staff restricted us starting our tour of the castle by whilst they put disabled people in the lift one at a time. I understand that they had to operate the lift for disabled people and had to be careful With health and safety but why couldn’t they tell us what was going on instead of keep putting the rope across the doorway and not letting the able bodied people through in between using the lift. We also couldn’t get into the restaurant as it was badly run and overcrowded and yet another long wait wait and we were running out of time so we had to go to a stall to get a sausage roll and tea. There were not many stalls which was disappointing. All in all we didn’t get to see as much if the castle as expected.

Thank you for your review of the Leeds Castle Flower Festival.

I am very sorry that your day was marred by queuing, This is a very popular event and we try to work closely with the coach operators over admission times as we know that coach groups are on a tight schedule. But sometimes this still results in queues as we have more than 15,000 visitors to go through the castle over the week.

Leeds Castle is 900 years old next year, and the interiors of the castle are challenging for our staff as they move visitors safely around the rooms. Dwell time increases with the presence of the flowers and we are restricted by the maximum we can have inside the castle at any one time.

That said, we will be using all the feedback from the event during our event debrief, so thank you again for your valued comments.
