Went to the Muggleton Inn for Friday fish and chips but were told they had run out of fish, so the young girl rang their other pub which is in Maidstone and that's how we ended up at The Society Rooms. Staff greeted us and were friendly and aware we were coming, place was very busy as Friday night but still did not have to wait long for the fish, chips and peas, all hot and with a pint of beer all for just over £6 each makes for excellent value.

Been eating and drinking here for a few years now and feel it is time to pass comment. My first comment is aimed towards the staff. All seem very dedicated, polite and very hard working. All the staff seem to carry a smile, which is admirable considering the hours they seem to work.

Food, you get what you pay for, and the prices are very reasonable, therefore do not expect fine quality steak or fresh seasonal vegetables. This said, the food is not bad, leaving you more pennies to spend on the excellent choice of ales.

Beer, you are stuck for choice here, never had a reason to complain, and the prices are super. One negative comment, often beers are advertised which they do not have, you see the beer label on the hand pump but it is 'not ready yet'.

All in all, recommended, and as the great man said, I'll be back............

The society rooms is one of our regular haunts. Great place for the kids during the day. The service is always cheerful and the food predictable. Not exactly great good but for the price you really can't complain.

The choice of beers is always good with a good range of micro breweries represented.

Certainly a great choice for a quick meal.

I went here with my boyfriend and found the both the drink and the food excellent value for money. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I would recommend this pub to any one.

Of the two Wetherspoons in Maidstone, this is currently the nicer. As with all Wetherspoons, it's cheap and cheerful. We particularly enjoy curry night, although the quality of the food is inconsistent - the curry itself is always really good but the quality of the nans, poppadoms, bhajis and samosas fluctuate from week to week, and they often seem to run out of things! Still, for the price you pay, you can't complain at all!
