“Pretty standard carvery fare, staff good”
Reviewed 20 March 2012

Went here on a Saturday night, restaurant was quite busy. The food was pretty standard carvery material, but well enough done. Service was good, pleasant without being intrusive. Good value for money and a pleasant atmosphere

“9/10”
Reviewed 15 March 2012

The food in this resteraunt was top knotch, very tasty and very well priced.
The waitresses were very on the ball and happy to help with anything, nothing was too much trouble.
Relaxed atmosphere, nice to chill out with a special house cocoktail or a free cup of tea or coffee at lunch time.

“OK- a bit chaotic in terms of organisation, but it's early days.”
Reviewed 12 March 2012

This restaurant occupies the very short lived Black Rocks restaurant in the High Street near the river. As I understand, it is now being run by the chef of the former Henrys table restaurant, which was in the same premises before the Black Rocks restaurant.opened.

It is a bit difficult to review it accurately, as when we visited it was obvious they had opened in a bit of a hurry as the interior was sparce and was still undergoing decoration. Naturally being a restaurant that had only been trading a matter of days (and probably opened earlier that it really should have) there was a lot of problems with communication and the operating system in general. New venture with new staff- a bit of a nightmare! However everyone did get what they ordered- albeit with over an hours wait between the starters and main course- and the food was pretty good and reasonably priced.

One observation for the future- you can either have a prepared main OR you can choose from the carvery menu. Unfortunately no-one thought to time it so the people having the carvery self-serve should really have been getting their meals (which naturally involves queuing) at least 5 to 10 minutes before the pre-prepared mains started arriving. This resulted in everyone having to get up to allow the 6 or so carvery people to get out and start queuing for their meals and then getting up again when they came back. Not very good at all and needs looking at..
