“Good food and service”

Really liked the food - would describe as rustic but very Italian and fantastic selection. Service was very good. Being on a main road, the outlook didn't match the food but you can't have everything

“Real Italian - Great food and atmosphere!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2013

Wow! To have a real italian experience and great food then this is the place to go. Relaxed, chatty, friendly service from a young and fun team. Why would you want to visit those 'plastic' so called Italian chain restuarants when you can feel part of the atmosphere and enjoy really delicious food.
Dont be put off by the position of the resturant just because its not on the high street. Run by real people who want to please.

“Very friendly service - just a tiny bit slow for lunch time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 May 2013

We went as a group of colleagues for a celebratory lunch.
We received a very warm welcome from the staff and the food is delicious. It did take a fair while to arrive ( and to be fair, the restaurant wasn't busy, but the pizzas were absolutely delicious and I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant. I have graded the service as 'very good' because the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

“Warm, wonderful and authentic.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 May 2013 via mobile

Such a treat, from the moment we arrived. This doesn't feel like an Italian restaurant in England. Instead, it's as if you've been beamed straight into Naples. There's none of the cliched kitsch one associates with the typical Anglo-Italian experience - you'll find no wine bottles in raffia or gingham tablecloths - just a warm welcome, delicious food, and plenty of space. The tables are spread at a respectful distance from each other, so no danger of clashing elbows with other diners.

The decor is tasteful and authentically Neopolitan, the welcome is warm, the service always friendly and attentive. And the food? Just wonderful - the best pizzas I have tasted outside southern Italy, without a doubt. Handmade, simple, fresh and very generous in size. Nothing was too much trouble. Want to personalise your pizza with a few extra ingredients? No problem. Fold it into a calzone instead? Consider it done. Rearrange it altogether to make a "white" pizza (no tomatoes). Just say the word.

But Vesuvius isn't just about pizza - please don't make that mistake. Seafood is delivered fresh every day, and there's also a wide selection of authentic, home-cooked Neopolitan meat, vegetarian and pasta dishes on offer, all freshly prepared. Be sure to check out the specials. My starter of scallops and king prawns in garlic butter was sublime (and reasonably-priced too, at £5.50 I think). And the children asked for small portions of pasta to start - again, not on the menu, but no problem to prepare specially. If you like things spicy, try the Spaghetti Diavola (Devil's spaghetti) - delicious, but not for the faint-hearted. And don't skip dessert. Especially recommended is the house speciality, a pannetone pudding with caramel sauce, served with cream or ice-cream (or both if you ask nicely). Coffee, as you would expect is authentic Italian, rich, strong and aromatic.

I can't recommend Vesuvius highly enough. It's an oasis of calm, civilisation and La Dolce Vita in a bustling town, just like Naples in fact.
