This review is based on the place as a pub rather than a restaurant, as we went for a drink and not a meal.
As I entered I was confronted by a sign saying ‘please wait to be seated’ and a room full of people eating or tables set up for diners. I almost turned around then, as I was looking for a pub for a pint or two and not a restaurant. However, further investigation showed that the far area had tables for drinkers (and another, but infrequently used entrance). Perhaps it’s just unfortunate that the entrance from the car park is the one that most people would use, thus giving the impression to the unkowledgeable that the place is a restaurant and not a pub. So don’t be put off if you just want a drink – just ignore the sign and walk through the dining area to the drinking area.
There was a good range of beers, but my wife's glass had a large crack in it, which should have been spotted by the bar staff before serving it with the drink in it. Apart from that it was all right, although not the sort of locals pub I would go to just for a drink (unless I was desperate, of course, in which case anything will do!)
