Great little place to stop. Only a minute walk to the town centre. Very close to the railway station. Easy to find.
The staff were really friendly and helpful. The rooms are situated about the pub restaurant. I expected it to be noisy but it was very quiet. There was a 24 hr guest entrance and parking. The room was large and clean. Plenty of cereal and toast for breakfast.
Got a great offer on the net: pay for Fri & Sat night and get Sunday night for free. Great value!

My partner and I booked into the hotel for one night as we were attending a function in Maidstone. The hotel was located within walking distance to the town centre so a great base for such a trip.

The staff were immediately welcoming and more that helpful in every way - Carrying bags, giving directions and offering advice on other things to see and do in the area.

The room was clean and a good size, and worth every penny when combined with the great staff and great food (huge portions of wholesome pub food, and a great selection to choose from).

I would reccommend a stay here to everyone, the staff even held our bags whilst we went shopping after we checked out, it was as if we were the guests of honour - service like I haven't received anywhere else for a long time.

Stayed March 2007

We stayed here for 2 nights in Jan 07.
The room was clean and tidy.
Bathroom was very nice (shower cream provided).
Breakfast in the morning although it was continental ONLY, was OK. Free newspapers are provided in the breakfast room.
As for the location it couldn't have been better. The White rabbit is on the edge of the village. It has a lovely restaurant, serving some fantastic food.
There was a little road noise that could be heard from the bedroom we were in, but not enough to keep us awake.
Staff are very friendly.
We would stay here again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Built in 1797 to house the officers' quarters of the Invicta Barracks, this distinctive lodge is one of the most welcoming hotels in Maidstone. Rather than repelling Napoleonic troops it now serves as relaxing budget accommodation for short breaks and business travel, and is ideally placed for exploring Kent or nearby towns like Chatham and East Malling. The colonial-style building offers 12 comfy rooms and a cosy pub, where you can unwind with a pint of cask ale and some freshly cooked, seasonally inspired food.Maidstone is Kent's business heart, but there's plenty to see and do besides attending an event at the East Malling Conference Centre. It's best known as home to the beautiful Leeds Castle, with its 500 acres of scenic parkland and popular golf course, but you could also enjoy the town's theatres, bars or busy shopping centre. Or you could explore the area via water, taking a canoe along the River Medway or a more leisurely boat trip on the Allington Belle or Kentish Lady. ... more   less
