“disappointed”
Reviewed 20 November 2013

we stayed overnight 19th/20th Nov. we booked on line and the offer was for a "suite" including breakfast all for £160 ! when we arrived ! the reception staff were very friendly and efficient ! we were given our "key card" for a room on the 3rd floor ! when we got outside the room we noticed it was a "smoking room" (something that was not mentioned on the on-line booking form) we opened the door and were met with the smell of stale smoke ! it was horrible for us as neither of us are smokers ! we went to reception and asked why we were given this room and were told that all the "non-smoking suites" were fully booked ? and were sorry ? as it was only for the one night we thought it would be ok ? we had to leave the windows open all night to try and "air" the room ! and it was a very cold night indeed ?
The room itself was ok ! but I certainly wouldn't class it as a "suite" it was a bit tired looking ! but had a nice work desk with a handy mirror so you could sit and do your work ! or ladies apply make-up and do your hair ! the hospitality tray was ok but they NEVER seem to put enough milk cartons on them ?
The bathroom was very small ! some nice toiletries and nice soft towels and the shower was lovely ! quite powerful and of course nice and hot ! but the bathroom door didn't open properly ! scuffed along the floor when opening/closing it !
The bed was comfortable and clean and the T.V was at the bottom of it but unfortunately the picture quality on BBC was not good ! needs re-tuning !!
I have to say breakfast was lovely ! plenty of choice in all sections ! the staff were very friendly but as it was a busy morning our table was still being cleared from the last people that had sat there ! the waitress did apologise tho ! and said it shouldn't have happened and WAS sorry ?
All in all we were very disappointed in what this hotel charge for their rooms ! especially the one we had ? £160 seems very over-priced for that room especially because it stank of stale smoke ? reception did say that "housekeeping" would come and try to "Re-fresh" the room but what a waste of time ! you cannot get rid of that sort of smell because it gets ingrained into everything ! and it did ?
The only reason we chose this hotel (but wouldn't have done had we known about the room ! we would have gone somewhere else)was its closeness to "Harry Potter studios" about 20mins away ? this was our reason for going to Watford ! what a fantastic day we had there ! well worth going ! I won't say anymore about it ? but the THINGS you learn ?????? amazing ??

Does what it says on the tin really. It is cheap, clean and comfortable. It isn't particularly spectacular, but it is very reasonable for the price I paid. The staf are friendly and it is easy to find with a good sized car park

what you generally expect from a Hilton Hotel though its not Park Lane ;) which was the first Hilton we ever stayed in so the bar is always high!!! though next time we will try the Hotels restaurant as the Toby next door wasn't coping with a busy saturday!

Comfortable clean room but don't get 215 since it's right beside fire door that slams against the wall. Good value with the very good breakfast that is included in the price. Disappointed that room service comes with a charge of £5 'tray service'!

I stayed in the Watford Hilton last month and was highly disappointed with my stay. Thankfully it was only for one night.

The room cost £175 for one night and yet despite this, it only had two tiny single beds rather than the one double bed I would have expected. Actually finding the room was the first challenge I faced because bizarrely, the rooms are not ordered in numerical order, just to make it all the more confusing. After traipsing through seemingly endless corridors that had several fire doors that bang loudly when closing, I finally found it.

The room itself is a joyless affair, very gloomy with poor lighting and a dated feel to the decor.

The shower is very poorly designed. The tap controls are in the corner, which means the shower curtain can not be closed properly resulting in the bathroom floor getting soaked.

Overall, I would never willingly stay there again. I was willing to overlook its dour external appearance and fact that my room had a lovely view of the car park, but the place is just such poor value for money.

The first thing that greets you upon entering the room is a bottle of water on the dresser, inviting you to 'hydrate' for the princely sum of £4.25! That price for a bottle of water after you have paid £175 for this sub-par room sums the place up.

I really enjoyed the one night spent at this hotel. Stayed because it very close to a function i was going to. The room was pleasant, as where the staff..but the breakfast was very good..& being honest i found this deal (best price ever for 2 people & breakfast, at £66.00...so cannot complain..the deal was hidden behind the normal prices)..even so it was very nice & i would recommend to anybody!!

Although the location is a bit odd, the hotel has spacious and functional bedrooms.
Quiet surprised when we saw a staff member working there for 40 years at the breakfast service.
Checkin was ok, dinner service and the meal was really good. We have also really enjoyed the service and breakfast in the morning.
