Description: This striking grade II listed building was previously Martha's Vineyard, the short-lived successor to the Old Court pub/nightclub which opened in 1998. The Greek Doric-style building was purpose built in 1830-31 as Walsall's first permanent library. Named St Matthew's Hall, it was for subscribers only. By 1847, it was in a state of disrepair and, not long after, it was altered internally to accommodate the county court.

decided to eat with my 19 year old daughter and 6 month old son closer to home on a thurs lunch time so we gave this a try while in town doing some shopping , NEVER AGAIN
the place was full of drunk men and clearly as many drunk women who did nothing but swear and moan how long it was till there next benefits came rolling in
staff will not throw these scum out because it is a case of revenue for them clearly and the fact that the staff just let them be says more about whos running the place .... jdwetherspoons or the people who keep going in there.

food is fab from this chain as i have visted many but this one and others in the town need to be avoided along with most of walsall town centre , god knows why walsall council allow these scum to just hang around the town centre day after day carrying cans .

I visit this pub often and find it one the best to go in Walsall.

It's nicely decorated on the inside and has quite a quirky feel with book selves lining the walls and an open fire place. I believe it used to be a court house and this adds to its design. Although the stairs to the main toilets are up a very narrow flight of stairs, difficult to navigate after a few drinks.

They are also a Lloyds No.1 bar, which is Weatherspoons club night brand and have several theme nights a week where part of the pub becomes a dance floor. I've been to one or two, great to start the night as drinks are cheap but I wouldn't stay there.

Food is pretty average, never had a bad experience and service is always quick. It's pretty standard pub food, decent for the price but nothing to write home about. But what they offer is good if you want a decent priced meal with friends after shopping or work or before going out for the night.

Their best night food wise is their curry club on a Thursday. Priced between £5 to £7 with a free drink, the curry's offered are pretty good and you can add a pudding for £1.99.

Overall this is a great pub if you want a nice place to catch up with friends and family or to go to start your night out.

We have been in this pub a few times and it is a nice pub in the centre of walsall. However, the staff are not too good behind the bar and it took a while to place our order because the meals included drinks. Our meal was o.k. but nothing to write home about.
