Very true, but the grounds are even more inspiring. They're full of trees which are literally hundreds of years old. And so very tall. It's just across the road from our guest house, so We'll be making at least one other visit. We went into the Abbey at 5:00pm to listen to evensong. Such heavenly sounds produced by the choir and echoed by the majestic walls and ceiling.

What beautiful surroundings to hold a food and drinks festival. The abbey itself is magnificent and the trees and grounds just as good.

Truly a gem. If you like cathedral architecture this is an essential visit. Breathtaking inside despite technically being an abbey not a cathedral. You will be amazed and the scale of the place.
Oh and a very nice tea shop which gets very busy too with a car park next door and an entrance directly onto it ( pay/display).

Lovely old Abbey 900 years old with lots of interesting history and architecture beautiful stain glass windows guides very knowledgeable and jolly.
Take time to have coffee and home made cake in the tea shop within the grounds. Great for photos.
Take all down to the river opposite and stroll in Victoria Park. Enjoy!!

Spent a few hours here to enjoy the Abbey Architecture and the wonderful grounds with some magnificent trees.Tewkesbury Town has many ancient buildings, which are a pleasure to look at as you walk through the streets. We aim to go back there and spend more time to discover the vast range of historical sights and experiences.
