“Just what we wanted!”
Reviewed 21 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

First thing to say is that Steve and Kay are very friendly and accomdating hosts. We booked the apartment at quite late notice which wasn't a problem. Apartment itself is modern, clean with everything you need (including a jacuzzi bath which is awesome!) In a beautiful, tranquil riverside setting. Great access to other Cotswold highlights too so it makes a great base if you're looking to visit further afield.

“Just what was needed”
Reviewed 16 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

This is not for everyone. It's not posh and the animals will not be to everyone's taste, but for us it was perfect. Just a few things to say. It was our anniversary and I emailed Steve the day before our stay asking if he could put champagne flowers and chocolates in the flat for us. No problem even though I gave hardly any notice. And he didn't rip me off either which many would have. In the fridge waiting, bacon, bread, butter and eggs. Flat itself is lovely and is a real escape. Great accommodation which is modern and comfortable.
We will be going back. If you want to escape this is it. Very good value for money.

“Relaxing break”
Reviewed 9 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

From the moment we arrived the owners Kay and Steve made us feel very welcome. The apartment is very comfortable and well equipped. The welcome pack of bacon and eggs was a special touch. We ate at the Inn on both nights and can honestly say the meals were excellent . A gem of a place in a lovely location on the river Severn with the added pleasure of ducks!

“Our little heaven on earth”

Me and my mom rented the apartment for one week. Our stay with Steve and Kay was perfect from the first moment until the end. It was such a pleasure for us to meet these two wonderful, caring people who couldn’t do enough for us. Also now, back in our hometown, we still think of the two and our stay with them.

After our arrival Steve showed us the apartment which is set within the 16th century coalhouse inn and which is extremely cosy and well-equipped. It consists of a big living-room with a television and an impressive view over the river, a bed-room, a bathroom with a Jacuzzi and a huge kitchen. The apartment is very bright and beautifully furnished. You will find everything you need. Steve and Kay even stocked our fridge with some milk, butter, bread, bacon and freshly laid eggs from their chickens.

Once arrived, there is so much to see and explore: for example the animals. And trust me: There are a lot!!! They have chickens, ducks, pigeons and even a little pony named “Dodger”. Every animal has its own history and Steve loves to tell them all. In the evening, when Steve feeds the ducks, you can watch them arriving from the whole river. It is heart-warming, to watch Steve and Kay caring for their animals as if they were parts of their own family.

On our last evening Steve showed us the river with his boat. For the flood period he has a jet ski, but sometimes you can see him cruising around just for fun. If you’re lucky, he will take you on a trip! :-)

At the weekends Steve and Kay open the doors of their own traditional pub. You can decide if you sit inside of the beautiful pub or outside, next to the river. Don’t miss the drinks and the delicious food which is cooked by Kay and Steve on their own. Especially the braised beef was incredibly scrumptious!

The coalhouse inn with its lovely and warm-hearted owners was one of the friendliest places we have ever been. Thank you so much for everything, Steve and Kay! It was definitely not our last time with you and the animals! See you soon!

Me and my wife stayed here for one night in the riverside apartment. From the moment we arrived Steve could not do enough for us and made sure that we had everything we needed they had even stocked the fridge with freshly laid eggs, bacon, bread, butter and milk for our breakfast which was such a lovely surprise :) the apartment was much more than we expected absolutely stunning with beautiful views. We also booked in the restaurant for our evening meal (so cosy and friendly) fab choice of food and all homemade and the portion size was unreal just nothing you could fault so a big thank you to kay for that . We will definately be going back as it's one of the nicest and friendliest places I have stayed thank you Steve and Kay for making us so welcome . See you both and all the animals soon as we will be be back :)

I really wanted to submit a bad review for selfish reasons but it would be unfair not to share this little piece of heaven with you all

We booked last minute for the Bank Hol weekend and from the moment we booked until the time we left nothing was too much trouble for our lovely hosts Kay and Steve.

The Inn was easy enough to find tucked down a country lane with glorious views that really made you feel like you were getting away from it all.
Upon entering the apartment - tucked up some steps to the side of the pub - we were gobsmacked. The photos don't do this place justice. Its bright, spacious and beautifully furnished with everything you need for a short or long stay. They were even kind enough to leave us some goodies in the kitchen. Such a relaxing environment to spend some time in. Ladies - send the men down to the bar, pour yourself a glass of bubbles and spend half an hour in the jacuzzi bath - bliss!!

The hills, the water, the animals, a stunning apartment, a pub next door run by friendly hosts = bloody perfection!
We can't wait to return.
