After spending an age shopping with my wife, thought i would treat her to the Metro Bar as she likes wine bar/restaurants with a bit of style and that appear to have a good vibe. As we were the only diners, naturally you expect the service to be quick, but the waitress while friendly enough had the habit of disappearing so it was quite frustrating trying to attract the attention of the barman. Anyhow we opted for fish & chips, which proved to be a bad move, while the portions were certainly very generous, the fish did not taste particularly fresh, the batter was soggy in places and the chips were a bit bland, if we had this in a regular fish & chip shop we may have accepted it, but when you pay around £14 and wait 25 minutes you are entitled to expect better, we were in a bit of a rush so did not complain and in any case the food was edible, just not tasty and certainly not good value.
