“Awful!”
Reviewed 6 May 2014 via mobile

This is by far the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. If it wasn't for the fact it was late and that we were exhausted I would have walked out.
The staff were lovely and the only saving grace because the place was tired, carpets were stained and the shower of the room we stayed in was not very clean. We also had a dirty towel folded up on the towel rack. The reception refunded our £5 parking fee as a 'good will gesture'
It was such a shame because Solihull is a very nice place.
The restaurant was as bad as the rest and the food was not worth the money although again the staff were great.
We didn't expect posh but clean would have been nice.

Dear D C,

Thnk you for your review, I'm sorry to read of your experience.

We would have happily rectified any issues inlcuding relpacing the marked towel at the time but I appreciate you just wanted to get your head down for the night.

It would appear from your review that the receptionist did not have the full picture on check out and thought that you were happy with her resolution.

I hope you will reconsider using us again in the future, thank you for your kind words about our team.

Spent just one night here, but wouldn't hesitate returning for a longer stay. The reception team of Hannah and Isabel was excellent - professional, friendly and helpful, especially with advice and the organisation of a taxi. Our room was large, and had access to a roof terrace, and was clean and well equipped. Breakfast well presented and the service polite and attentive, can recommend the poached eggs!

An excellent hotel, situated just across the road from the Touchwood shopping area.

Stayed here on business during April and can only comment on the reception service and the room as I did not eat nor drink in the bar.

Room was clean although dated a little disappointing as this was an executive suite. I know that water pressure is an issue at most hotels but the shower was pretty pathetic with only a dribble of water to "wet the appetite".

I would use again at it was convenient for where I wanted to be but would request a nicer room with a shower that worked!!!

The Holiday Inn in Solihull is not just nice, but has an amazing staff.
I haven´t seen that many strongly service oriented employees in hotel chains, but this is THE exception.
No matter what, if you need you invoice to be corrected, a cab, advice of any kind…they will be always willing to help and with their very best smile.
Specially Aika, from the front desk, was very helpful to me when my pre-booked cab did not show up.
Will definitely be back soon.

Recently stayed for 2 night break over the easter period. This was the second time that we had stayed at this hotel and once again it did not disappoint.
We brought friends with us this time and they all agreed what a superb hotel this was.
The beds are huge and very comfy. Nice modern bedrooms and bathrooms. The hotel is very well decorated throughout.
We ate at the hotel for the second night and the food was superb.
We have to make special mention to Ramona who worked in the lounge bar. She was an absolute gem, she looked after us so well, making sure we had everything that we needed She was very attentive and courteous, a staff member to be proud of.
Also have to mention the leisure facilities. The pool is lovely and nice to have the same depth of water all over. Changing rooms are kept nice and clean. Would like a spin dryer though to save having to carry soaking wet costumes back to hotel room - just a small point.
The situation makes it for this hotel being just across the road from the Touchwood Shopping Centre, a definite must for ladies to do their shopping.
Overall a really great place to spend a weekend, great atmosphere which has to come from the quality of staff employed. We will be back.

We stayed in a family room after an event at the NEC. The Hotel was extremely well situated, handy for the event and great for the shops and restaurants of Solihull. The rooms were a great size if a little on the cold side to start with, and the beds comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, and breakfast was as good as you'd expect for a Hotel buffet. Rooms at the front of the hotel like ours will suffer from the noise of the club over the road if you're a light sleeper like me, wish I'd taken some earplugs. Nobody else in the room was woken by it though. Great value for money and staff were excellent.

Stayed as we were in Solihull for a family party at the St Johns Hotel nearby. I used my points and I had to book 2 rooms because they didn't have rooms that would allocated 2 adults and 2 children which is unusual for a Holiday Inn. I had telephoned the hotel before arrival and they were able to confirm connecting rooms. On arrival, we were allocated one of the rooms just before check in time but the other one was still being prepared after check in time. On check in we prepurchased breakfast for the following morning which I think was £10 per adult with kids eating free, which makes it a good price.
