Gatehouse Bed & Breakfast

I chose the Gatehouse as it has plenty of open countryside around it and is located in a lovely little quiet village. The local pub does food in the evenings and is a 10 minuite walk away down a country lane. Jane and John are marvelous friendly hosts and make you very welcome. I would recommend this B & B to everyone.

Room Tip: I was put up in the Bridal sweet initially. It is massive.

I have now stayed here a few times whilst working at the NEC and would highly recommend it.

A warm & friendly welcome, comfortable, spacious rooms and a yummy breakfast - whether you enjoy a hearty cooked breakfast or something more simple. The view from the dining room is beautiful, looking out over the spacious garden, and you really feel like you're well and truely out in the countryside, despite being just a short drive from the NEC.

Country pubs & restaurants aren't far away at the end of a long day on your feet!

We had the pleasure to stay 4 nights at Gatehouse Solihull and to meet Jane and Jon a very charming couple of hosts. They gave us the impression not to be guests but more so to be friends and welcome.
Their house itself has a special cosy atmosphere, is well and comfortable equipped surrounded by a well-kept property and they offer a rich and tastful breakfast.
The location within the countryside is absolutely quiet but otherwise near to motorways and airport, simply excellent.
Gatehouse Solihull is a recommendable decision.

My husband and I stayed here for one night when visiting the NEC, which was very easy to reach from this B&B. The room we stayed in was incredibly spacious (see photos) - as well as the king size bed and other bedroom furniture the room also had a large TV, dressing table, and two armchairs! Plus the bathroom (toilet, shower, and separate bath) had loads of space too.

We like to have a window cracked open when we sleep, and we still slept in silence all night; no traffic or other noise whatsoever, this B&B is nicely nestled in a very quiet rural area. Which made for beautiful views and surroundings too. We had too tight a schedule to explore their gardens but we wished we could. We did however walk down the road 15mins to get to the pub for our evening meal. The B&B owner offered to ring ahead for us to book a table, which was a lovely touch.

Speaking of lovely touches, there were plenty of them - freshly picked snowdrops in a vase on the dressing table, scrummy biscuits with the tea & coffee, bottled water, bath products in the bathroom.

Breakfast was a real event! Made to order, and then served on most beautiful china I've ever eaten off and drank tea from! Lovely laid out table and classical music in the background, with sweeping views of the gardens out the french windows - it was wonderful. We shared a table with the other guests (as there was only one big table in the dining room) but the owner introduced us to each other, and we happened to be visiting the same event at the NEC so it was nice to chat.

We felt very well looked after and warmly welcomed, and we would love to return. Would highly recommend this to anyone.

I've stayed here several times when working in the area and I've been made very welcome every time.

The location is great and the short country drive makes for a relaxing end to the day.

Large rooms, friendly owners and a great breakfast!

Used the Gatehouse a few times and it really is a hidden gem, although working at the NEC it feels more like been on holiday in a mini stately home. Only 10 mins from the NEC its far better than staying in the ones next to the NEC at £80/£100 per night. Also try the Bulls Head in Barston village for great home cooked food.

Once again we were welcomed by our lovely host Jane into her cosy and comfortable home. The delicious cooked breakfast set us up for a day at the NEC, which is only a short drive away.
The Gate House is surrounded by a good selection of pubs and country restaurants, either within walking distance or only a few minutes in the car. Have booked ahead for 2014 and looking forward to it already!
