Ate here whilst on a weekend away at the Birmingham NEC. We received a warm welcome and the food was delicious. There was a small mix up with the food as we were a party of 18 but this was sorted out quickly with minimum fuss.
The food was delicious. I am a vegetarian and I can say this is one of the best vegetarian curries I have had.
Overall very impressed. The prices are quite high (especially for wine) but the food made it worth it.

I was here 2nd time and I had the same experience. The food was excellent, but the quality of service was below my expectations. They are really kind, but the waiters are quite unprofessional. I might add that the prices are at least 20% higher then an average Indian restaurant's prices.

After 15 years, I was delighted that the Rajnagar is still going strong.

I'd advised my colleague that the Jalfrezi was "trustworthy", i.e. they go for a big flavour rather than trying to blast your tastebuds with chilli. As a show of faith, I went for the Lamb Jalfrezi myself, and it was as good as I remembered it.

Service was as good as ever.

Might even return tomorrow night.

Booking advisable otherwise you may have to wait at busy times. Take away available. Have a pot of tea while you wait...
The Rajnagar serves the most excellent food you are likely to eat in a long time and at a price not designed to break the bank. 4 poppadoms with chutneys and pickle. 2 starters. 2 mains with rice and nan. 3 beers. All for around £40. Parking in the car park at rear as well as out front.
It would have been 5* based on the food and service but everything was just a tad 'busy' and a little noisy. But it was 7pm on Friday evening and the end of the early sitting going into the late sitting... Not that you are rushed in any way but as soon as a table is made vacant, the linen is off, the table is laid and the next diners are seated. Just goes to show how popular this place is. And it's all about the food. Delicious. 25 years and with a reputation of being one of the best restaurants in The Midlands, it's a hidden gem.
I would recommend: try something off the fish menu... Book for 8pm when there's less 'family' noise.
No doubt when we return another evening at 8pm then it will be 5*
