This is a very good restaurant.
Mainly pizzas but with some interesting Greek specialities.
The food is well cooked and served with professionalism and friendliness making you want to visit again.
Particularly recommended is the chicken souvlaki which is well prepared and extremely filling
Nice atmosphere here you are not rushed
A big advantage here is that there are gluten free options available - unusual and very welcome
We live in Southport and in view of the poor service and quality of food in this town we have no problems in making the trip to Preston to visit the Cafe Bar
We will certainly return

We had a free evening in Preston and decided to go to Cafe Bar, which had Greek food as part of its varied menu. We ordered a meze dish (with several different Greek items), a Greek salad and a pile of steamed mussels. The three dishes "hit the spot" and were refreshing during an unusual warm spell here in Preston, a former industrial city in England's far north-west. The food was fresh and nicely prepared. My wife had a filo pastry dessert and we both had real Greek coffees to finish the meal. The service in Cafe Bar was also very friendly and helpful. There is a large outside area for dining (but some people smoke, so we ate inside.) Those looking for a pleasant, inexpensive and delicious meal would find Cafe Bar a good place for such a meal.

Like many travellers from north Britain, changing trains in Preston to get to Liverpool or Manchester is a necessary and frequent part of the journey. I always enjoy getting out of the train station, if I have longer between connections and enjoy a walk around the nearby and delightful Georgian Winckley Square. Due to the Northern rail debacle I had a little longer between train connections and decided to have a spot of lunch, i came across the understated name of the ‘Cafe Bar’ in one of the streets off the square. Through a vennel and into a lovely court yard where the restaurant was located. The entrance had a menu that detailed a full range of Mediterranean dishes from Turkish, Greek, Italian and Spanish options, Many looked great and decided on tapas, eating outdoors in the courtyard I enjoyed the tapas food with sparkling mineral water (I was working that afternoon!). The staff were very friendly and attentive. This restaurant was a delightful find and is definitely worth a visit, if visiting or passing through Preston.

The setting has so much potential with an off the track courtyard lit by fairy lights and other ambient lighting. The interior will remind you of any stock restaurant you’ve visited in either Spain or Greece. Unfortunately, that’s where the Cafe Bar’s plus’s end. The menu is lengthy and raises suspicion when photos of the food appear from cover to cover. The food appears to be reheated or cooked from frozen and is drowning in gallons of oil which diminishes what little flavour and taste was in the food. The service is amateurish at best with waiting for over 30 mins for a drink order being somewhat poor. The food, when it eventually arrived, was tasteless and dreary. The constant interruptions from staff asking if ‘everything was ok’ came as a welcomed rest-bite from attempting to consume what was placed in front of me. Overall this place has tremendous potential but sadly the food is letting it down drastically.
