We stayed here for the first time on Thursday, From the moment we arrived to when we left the service was excellent. nothing was to much trouble for the staff. We had the whole swimming pool to ourselves as it was only for hotel residents . Our room was large and spacious. The evening meal was in the Wall Garden which again was excellent service, we could not fault the food, Breakfast was a buffet but there was so much choice even an menu in case you did not want a cooked breakfast. This hotel beats all other hotels we have stayed in and we will definitely be back. There is not one negative thing I can think of for this hotel, would definitely recommend it to everyone.

Better end of the business hotels, injects personality and pleasant service into a relatively bland facilities. It would be unfair to say it was just average but little too much to say that I was left with anything special to say. Rooms comfortable and spacious, a bit worn round the ends (door hinges sagging etc). Bar pleasant but a bit pricey, food better than average. NOt one I would pick for romance but good for business.

Just returned from a two night stay, taken as a short with relaxing break from home and work with the wife.
Check-in was quick and easy with a warm welcome from reception staff.
The room was pleasant and had a nice view over the walled garden. It was a good comfortable size and well equipped with tea making facilities, iron and board, HD TV a good Sky package of programmes, safe and fridge.
We opted for cooked breakfast and chose to eat in the walled garden restauranton the first evening.
Breakfast was plentiful and well presented with all the usual options. A nice touch was the 'extras' available to order at no extra cost.
Evening meal was so good, we repeated the exercise the following night.
An all round pleasurable experience that we hope to repeat soon.!

The pool and sauna are nice but the accommodation is quite spacious but average in my experience. We stayed for a free night offer, and it is alright but not worth the normal rate. The bar was also expensive (just short of £9 for two pints).
There is a bar / restaurant directly across the road which was a bit better value and very popular.
Just down the road towards Preston is a pub called The Boars Head. The food and service there were very poor. We had fish and chips. The fish was shriveled and chewy and the chips weren't much better. When I complained they were obviously dis-interested.

Room Tip: The pool and sauna are nice.

We like the occasional afternoon tea and booked the Walled Garden on a Travelzoo offer which at £20 for two was a great deal. As JoolieBoo says it is a lovely restaurant, and even in late February, the view of the walled garden is very relaxing. The champagne came along first and was crisp and dry with not too much fizz. Delicious. The plate of sandwiches and cakes followed, beautifully presented. Delicate bite size pieces and light fluffy cakes, but where was the tea? We had almost finished eating the small feast when it finally arrived, after a polite reminder to the young waitress. Sorry ladies, but the quality of service on this occasion could have been better. You were not exactly overrun with customers. We have been to Barton Grange many times previously and will no doubt go again, but they need to be a little more attentive next time.

Dear Ian4,
thank you for taking the time to review your experience in the Walled Garden for our very popular afternoon tea, please accept my apologies if on this occasion our standards of service fell short. I have personally discussed this issues with my senior team to ensure that it does not happen again. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

we booked an Executive Room but also requested a quiet room. After booking we were immediately called and as the Executive Rooms are above the function room it was suggested that we stay in a Superior Room instead. The room had been recently upgraded and it was in good order, except for the bed which was rickety and squeaky, moreover, the supposed double bed was in fact 2 singles pushed together.

The restaurant was fantastic

Room Tip: The Superior rooms are quieter than the Executive rooms

Booked an overnight stay for my parents as part of their Christmas present and have to say that they had a great time. Many thanks to all the staff for looking after them so wonderfully well and making sure they had a really good time.
