“Lovely hotel but not much around area”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

Arrived at hotel with my wife, sister, and her husband for another of our many weekend breaks.quite impressed on looking at hotel on arrival, gardens well tended, lovely inside and a very pleasant lady on reception also big bonus was our room was ready upon arrival. Room 119 was lovely with a nice view, great nights sleep lovely furniture very colonial looking, fridge in room plus a safe, really was impressed.Food, well i thought the starter was lovely, and the sweet was yummy, bit disappointed with the main. If you wanted a lovely meal plus a change try the pub / restaurant opposite hotel.Staff were very helpful and first class reception service thank you brian / mr bn trainor from hyde cheshire.ps a little bit disappointed with the breakfast.

Room Tip: We were very happy with room 119 and my sister in room 113 not far from stairs and lift and on first...

Taken out for lunch on my return to my old Lancashire stamping ground and very good it was too. The Walled Garden restaurant was a garden centre last time I was down this way and the transformation grew on me!! Lovely surroundings, good food, excellent service. Special mention for the home-made burger, which was nicely seasoned whereas many are not. I'm not sure about the quirky plates with a slate-bed in the middle though and they must be a kitchen porter's nightmare!! Food pricier than here in the frozen north but I wasn't paying so result all round! Definitely worth a visit.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review the Walled Garden Bistro, I am thrilled you enjoyed the good food and excellent service.

The homemade burgers are cooked on our "Inka Grill" which gives them a fantastic added flavour as are all our steaks.

I do hope you visit us again when you are next in the area.

Best wishes

My brother recently held his wedding at Barton Grange and we stayed there in the hotel as well.
The whole experience was a delight from the reception drinks, the marriage ceremony, Luncheon, the evening do - eventually retiring for a good nights sleep, then breakfast in the morning before leaving. The staff were both friendly and efficient, the food and service was excellent throughout.
One more point was that Rob the Entertainment Manager was excellent from greeting everybody, guiding the party through the formalities and then providing the evenings entertainment. a marvelous time was had by all.

Room Tip: Our room was at the rear overlooking the gardens

Lovely anniversary weekend at barton grange hotel. Me and my wife had a lovely time. Was upgraded to deluxe room as a gift for our anniversary. Nice surprise. Staff very friendly accommodating helpful made us feel at home. Received an anniversary card in our room and complimentary champagne drinks with our meal another nice surprise. Room was lovely. Very comfortable mattress will be looking into investing in one for our home. Great coffee machine (also want one of these). Enjoyed the swimming pool. Food was lovely in walled garden restaurant. Hot water in bathroom very hot but not complaining just an observation. Overall very pleased.

Thank you so much for choosing Barton Grange Hotel to celebrate your anniversary.

Great to hear you felt at home at the Hotel, and you enjoyed the food in the Walled Garden Bistro and relaxed in our exclusive resident Pool.

The Nespresso machines and Bluetooth speakers are quite a new addition to the Executive and Deluxe bedrooms, and are making quite an impression.

I look forwarding to seeing you at the Hotel again very soon.

Best wishes

We stayed here on a Travelzoo package and it was great. The staff are extremely friendly and efficient. The hotel itself is nothing to look at from the outside, but inside it is like a maze! The communal areas are nice and cosy - plenty of places to enjoy a drink or play one of their bar games. The mini gym is good and the pool more than good. We enjoyed the fact that it is exclusively for the use of hotel guests - which meant both were private to us when we used them.

The room (103) was very nice and the bathroom looks newly refurbished. As others have mentioned, it was ridiculously hot and so sleeping was a challenge. It would be fine at any other time of year, but the bedding was too thick for summer and the fan fighting an un winnable battle! The bed was comfortable and the little extras were appreciated (Nespresso machine and plenty of toiletries).

The food was excellent and really good value for money in the Walled Garden Bistro in the evening, as was the pretty extensive breakfast. Drinks are typically priced for a hotel, so not cheap. We didn't get the two glasses of proscecco that we were supposed to get with the deal.

The garden centre is two and a quarter miles away and is well worth a visit. We walked, but the A6 doesn't make for a particularly peaceful country walk! There are a couple of pubs and restaurants along the way though. If you visit the garden centre, you get a couple of free drinks (tea or coffee etc) if you show your hotel room card.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it. We will definitely be visiting again.

Room Tip: Room 103 was very good, nice and quiet.

Stayed overnight. Hotel was very pleasant and food was good. Only negativity was the very weak shower as mentioned by another reviewer and a very warm room despite fan which was provided. This would not have been a problem had it not have been the hottest day of the year so far. Would stay there again
