“Good place to stay for a night out”
Reviewed 24 March 2014

I was only used the place to sleep after a night out, I didn't have breakfast and I think the nearest car park (at a reasonable price) is at the train station. Probably not ideal if you have a lot of luggage.
Overall perfect for a night out, booked in advance a decent price of £29 for a Friday evening.

Parking is a problem here because it is In the city centre it is expensive too. Luckily we arrived after 6pm and left just before 8am so could park on the street.

The entrance is far from welcoming and it isn't very clear that you have to take the lift to reception. Or where reception is when you get out of the lift.

The room was very dull - standard Premier Inn style but there was something not quite the same. In the end I decided it was because the wall with the window was painted in a dull dark cream colour - it really did take something from the room.

On a positive note the location is ok, 2 taxi offices opposite the main door and only a short walk into town or to the Guild Hall.

Don't think I would stay here again.

Having stayed here various times in the last few years I am always happy with this hotel. Great reception/bar/cleaning staff. Always friendly and efficient, all our requests always dealt with. Bar/restaurant area (when we have been ) chilled out and a nice place for dinner or a quiet drink. Have stayed with friends from uni and stayed with my nan and family over graduation, all equally happy with it here.

Room Tip: Maybe ask not to be facing the main road although it's not a huge problem for me.

Hi Denise R

Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review of our hotel.
I am very happy to hear that you, your family and friends have all enjoyed your stay with us.
Just to advise you when on your next stay with us, to give us a call and request rooms that are facing the car park rather than the front of the hotel to avoid any noise.

Hope to see you soon

Kind Regards

From the moment I stepped into the building.. at 4am, everything went accordingly and the staff were extremely and my helpful, even waiting 20 minutes for me company to find the steep (but worth every penny) £67 needed to secure a room, oh as well as being on the recieving end of a short amount of abuse but my girl. We entered the room and that part of a blur if I'm honest but the room was very clean and beds were extremely comfortable.

Upon waking up in the morning, having paid the £67, we decided to make full use of the facilities available to us. The bath tub managed to squeeze both of us in and was most enjoyable, a MUST DO for any new premier inners! We (her) then decided to make cup of tea's and even though the quality of those drinks were nothing short of terrible, I can only blame the person involved in the making of those tea's and not the quality of Premier Inn's products. The TV's again lived upto expectation and we watched a lovely 20 minutes of don't tell the bride before falling back asleep on the comfortable beds premier inn had to offer us.

Lastly, I want to think the staff for letting us off the extra charge for the over stay by an hour, we got carried on and simply did not want to leave the wonderful atmosphere that the room gave us. Overall, I would give this is a 4 and a half stars but because of the beautiful person in my company, I boost it to full marks.

Great night.

Bit unsure about this hotel when first booked but was brought to my ease with the helpful reception staff at check in. Although bang in the main strip was very very quiet and the bed was to die for, best night sleep I have had in ages. Breakfast was ok, coffee brill but scrambled eggs were very overdone, more like an omelette. Wish I had ordered the poached as hopefully fresher! Tomatoes no taste so left them but all in all ok

Bad points

Parking (or lack of) - A city centre hotel that is nearly impossible to park at, just don't try. Took me 45 minutes and £16 later, never again.

Wifi - don't bother, it doesn't work anywhere near enough.

Good point

Staff - they are superb, from reception to the bar to the restaurant.

Conclusion

Get a taxi or a train and take a book to read in the excellent bar and restaurant.

Hi NathanYork,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of our hotel, i'm glad that you found everything apart from the car parking to be excellent. With regards to the car parking we are in constant dialogue with the Euro car park to find ways to make parking easier and cheaper and these changes will be coming in to force throughout the year.

Kind Regards

Ideal location with free on-road parking after 6pm until 8am opposite a taxi rank, so no issues with security of the car.

It is fairly new and room was nice and clean with no traffic noise audible. It is within walking distance of the railway station.
