The current First World War exhibition is outstanding; kids will love it. 'Lancashire at work' was very interesting too. The cafe is a nice place to have a cuppa after your browsing.

“What a fantastic place”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

The 1st thing I've got to say is I can't believe this us free!! We went at the weekend for the 1st time. What a great place, lots to see. We have a 8 month old & you can get to see most of it with a pram, for the bits you can't the lovely people on the reception desk offer for you to leave it there with them. A very interesting place, even more so with it being about local history too. The world war 2 section is great, gives you an insight as to what it was like then. The people of lancashire was great too, surprising how many famous people originate from lancashire! A thoroughly enjoyable day out for all. Will definitely be returning.

“Brilliant School Trip to MOL”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

Recently took 63 students to the Museum as part of their studies into the Great War during the centenary year. All staff were helpful, cheerful and well organised. We were made to feel very welcome and valued. Our role playing drill sergeants were fantastic dressed in authentic uniform. Students were not only entertained but also learned a lot about trench warfare. One of the best bits was creeping in silence into the replica trench... Scary actually! The trip was one of the best and the students were bubbling today.. Enthused and inspired for sure. The guides were incredibly energetic and knowledgable. Thanks for a lovely morning!

“Never know what's on your doorstep ”
Reviewed 10 May 2014 via mobile

I've lived in the area all my life and passed the place thousands of times. On the off chance we decided to stop and look as we were at a loose end on a wet Saturday afternoon. I'm glad we did it was brilliant, like a Pandora's box with so much to see. The place has recently been refurbished with lottery funding and they've done a great job. I'd thoroughly recommend stopping if you have a couple of hours to spare and although our kids are grown up I wouldn't have hesitated bringing them as there's plenty of interactive stuff to keep them interested.
I'll definitely be returning soon even if just for a brew in the cafe.
