Description: The Nabs Head Hotel is situated in the hamlet of Nabs Head, Samlesbury within the picturesque countryside just outside the city of Preston and not far from Blackburn & Chorley. This delightful pub is the ideal watering hole for weary travellers (cyclists, walkers, runners, families, etc.), We serve proper Lancashire food in a warm and friendly environment. In partnership with Daniel Thwaites Brewery we have 4 Beer Engines showcasing seasonal ales and guest beers from the Crafty Dan Brewery.

Nice pub and food with an olde world charm. Staff are efficient and polite. Food is excellent and served piping hot. I had steak pie in a pot and chips with vegetables served in a separate dish, dessert of lemon crunch and cream was delicious. We spent a very pleasant couple of hours over lunch in comfortable surroundings.

Arrived on a friday evening at 8.20,very quiet with max of 5 other people in the pub.
This establishment serves Thwaites beers,I had a pint of Wainwright which was in good condition.
Whilst being served the drinks a diner approached the bar to say his goujons were overcooked.
We ordered two meals, small gammon with pineapple and a rump steak(medium)with pepper sauce.
The gammon was fine but the rump was overcooked(fat was charred),one of the staff asked if everything was ok,and I stated that the steak was overcooked and showed her the charred fat.
Her reply was I will tell" him",we never met him. There was no reduction on the bill for this overcooked meal.

Hello and i can only apologise that you did not enjoy your meal. We strive for perfection at all times but in your case we clearly did not achieve that.

I am the "him" in question and unfortunately was not on the premises at the time your complaint was made but I was informed when I returned, this was however after you had left and too late to discuss the matter in person with you.

It would however have been only fair of you to mention in your review that you had returned to us after enjoying your meal the previous evening and have written a review about that meal as well.

Regardless if you wish to contact me directly to discuss your concerns further please do so on (01254) 851416

First visit to the Nabs Head since it reopened & we will be back! , we had an excellent meal I had the battered Haddock which was very large piece of lovely fresh fish with nice fresh chips & a lovely crispy salad , the rest of my family had the roast dinner which they thoroughly enjoyed!
There was a good selection of real Ales & lagers on offer & a special mention for Becky behind the bar who was very helpful & really looked after us!.
Well done to all concerned , we will be back!!

Thank wozer

We went to the Nabs Head Saturday teatime for a meal and were extremely impressed by both the food and service provided.
The landlord, Michael is welcoming and professional and the waiting staff were very polite and friendly.
Having placed our order we did not have long to wait before our meals arrived. The food was cooked to perfection and very nicely presented.
We had the scampi and chips, and the chicken dish from the specials board. The scampi were plentiful and perfectly cooked, with a generous helping of chips, a side salad, and we also were given a dish of mixed vegetables between us. The chicken, stuffed with pate and wrapped in bacon, in a creamy mushroom sauce was superb. This was served with new potatoes, side salad and the mixed vegetables.
Although we certainly were no longer hungry after the main courses, we were tempted by the sweets in the display cabinet and chose the chocolate scrapyard to share between us, as we did not have room for a sweet each!
This was equally delicious.
To sum up, the pub had a pleasant atmosphere, professional and friendly staff, and the food was the best we have had in a local pub for as long as we can remember.
The beer was on top form too, so we would definitely recommend this pub to anyone, and will certainly be revisiting it again in the near future.
