“Pleasant”
Review of Preston Docks

Preston Docks
Reviewed 13 May 2014

In common with other docks elsewhere, Preston has transformed a former industrial wasteland into a pleasant recreational, residential and small business destination. Interesting.

Take a walk around the docks, so you can view the whole of the area. You can eat at either of the pubs; in the Marina hardware shop; even inside Morrisons.

Large piece of water in Preston which is nice to have a look around and a cheap berth if you own a yacht.

Main points are:

As a tourist - Too much litter and the council do nothing to use the facility. Really a waste of an amazing opportunity... come on Preston Council, pull your finger out! The marina cafe is lovely and the staff are really friendly. Local attractions of the Steam Railway, Green frog eatery and a walk long the river are all worth a visit if you are coming for the day.

As a Yacht owner - Great service and friendly staff in the Marina building but the undredged river and long trawl out to sea do make this a problem for deep draft yachts when it is not spring tides. Great location for hiding from winter storms!

Preston dock is a lovely area since being reinvented some years ago. Lots of shops , a few eating places and of course a marina . Why not park the car at the waters edge near morrissons and walk the whole way round the dock. If you fancy you could also visit the cinema. I have lived in Preston since I was a small child and have to say this is a very much improved city area.

Smelly full of litter and dirty overweight birds, that's the birds of the feathered variety!! Don't waste your time just sit at home and open a window.
