I took my wife to the Mallory Court dining room for a birthday celebration dinner and it wasn't just as good as ever, it was better than ever. We treated ourselves to the tasting menu with the flight of wines and we dined like princes. Right from the amuse bouche, it was superb and a revelation. The crispy salmon skin was a real novelty and the smoked haddock lollipop was amazingly light.
I won’t go through the whole menu but the poached ray with grapefruit was outstanding, the bass with the wilted wild garlic was a delight and the quail with broccoli and peanuts was a delicious though unexpected combination.
The dining room atmosphere was luxurious but not at all stuffy. It's recently been redecorated in a very tasteful style and we felt comfortable but special. The staff were attentive but not overly so and knowledgeable about the food and the wines and added to our enjoyment.
We booked for our wedding anniversary celebration before we left. Great to have such a superb restaurant in our locality
