Well, you've done the Balti house, you've done the great curry club thing after a night pubbing it, you've eaten all manner of Indian takeaways from all manner of establishments over the years. Now sit down, take your time, and enjoy the tingling effect on your taste buds as they are exposed to why they exist on your tongue, and let them get rejuvenated after years of abuse! Words almost fail me to describe the experience, but not quite. Firstly, you enjoy comfortable sofa seating whilst the staff attend to your first drinks and offer you the menu to peruse. All the staff are Asian and gave attentive service but what made the service here is the member of the staff that is also Asian but is obviously English born and has a very endearing Brummy accent with a character to match. It is a warm and cosy environment, you are eventually led to your table after struggling to choose which of the delectable menu items to have, and then watch as each mouthwatering dish served makes you jealous of your dining partners' choices. No, a curry isn't just a curry, that's the main lesson I've taken away from this experience, and I don't think i will settle for anything less by way of Indian food ever again. If this is a chain I hope the one in my home town is part of it as I can't wait to go again.

Thank you guest. You have clearly been motivated to review with the type of passion we feel about our restaurant. Well noted that the pre-dinner and post-dinner lounge offers something unique - a place to observe the menu in pleasant lighting and reflect.

Our kitchen staff take extra care and attention to prepare your meal. Working with Indian spices is a skill in itself. Knowing when and how to combine the perfect blend takes patience and experiment. The chefs make it look like second nature!

My floor team are well versed in the menu and can recommend perfect partners to accompany each dish. We have a monthly sample evening where staff get to taste the dishes and wines before you!

Lastly, we accept no replicas! We aren't part of any chains, we're just a small family run restaurant that can be repeated. So unfortunately you'll just have to come back to Leamington Spa to see us again!

A slightly more contemporary take on the normal "Indian" restaurant fare.

The relishes and chutneys that accompany the popadoms set the scene - they are only variations on what you will have had before, but they are extremely tasty.

The starters and mains are excellently prepared and cooked. My partner chose beef madras, the chef obviously wanted to show off the delicate cooking and flavour they had crafted into the dish, as there was a bowl of finely chopped chillis provided. Sure enough, the dish had very flavoursome spice, but was not pure chilli heat. It was so tasty, the chillis didn't get touched by my heat loving other half.

The desserts are also well worth trying if you have room.

In summary, every time I have been all of our party have enjoyed Mem Saab, with consistently good cooking. It's not aimed at the pile it high, and knock it back with pints after closing time crowd, but it's all the better for it.

Thank Neil B

Dear guest thank you for reviewing. Quiet rightly you have captured the essence of our cooking. We aim to take the ordinary and use aromas and oils in spices to complement a dish rather than overwhelm. By all means please try the dessert selection if possible there may be a nice surprise for you there too.

This restaurant is nicely laid out, staff were attentive, food was good value, wine suprisingly good. Thought the Jalfezi a little under spiced and over salty. Pershwari Naan a little sweet.

I've visited here many times and the food is always good and the service friendly. The meat is always very good quality and the service is friendly. The owner always finds time to come over for a friendly hello. The tableware is always sparklingly clean and there is a laid back atmosphere with the décor and lighting making it cosy for just 2 people. Prices are a little high but we don't mind paying a bit more for the quality. Portions are just right too, you never leave with that uncomfortable feeling of having eaten too much. I recommend it highly.
