“Good food and friendly staff”
Reviewed 1 February 2010

An enjoyable four nights, staff very friendly. We ate several times in the hotel in the evening could not fault the service or the food. Breakfast is buffet style but food is hot and plenty of choice.

ROOM
Very modern, spacious and spotlessly clean.

FOOD & SERVICE
The menu choice was excellent, food preparation and presentation was excellent and the staff were most helpful and very polite.
A special mention for the new year's eve dinner and dance. The organisation and preparation that went into this for over 200 guests was incredible. The management and staff deserve a lot of credit for the effort they all put in. well Done.

LOCATION
Ideally situated just on the outskirts of Leamington Spa. Didn't take long to get our bearings, in fact, after a visit to Leamington Spa my wife and myself walked back to the hotel(approx 40 mins), ralway station is even closer. Weather religious or not it is well worth a visit to the Sikh Temple which is only a 10 minute walk from the hotel. I was even given a guided tour, very interesting it was too. There is also the lovely city of Warwick just a couple of miles away.

STAFF
What can I say that hasn't already been said. They were exemplary.

Our party of 4 attended the New Years's Eve Gala dinner with an overnight stay. From the minute we walked into the hotel we were met by friendly, helpful staff. Our bedrooms were first class in cleanliness and comfort. Our meal and evening were brilliant. What a way to bring in a new year.

When we arrived to this hotel the outside seemed very nice, its been re-branded and looked upto date and modern. However, do not let the outside trick you. We checked in and the main reception/restaurant wasn't too bad, average really could do with updating but comfortable. The staff were very nice and friendly, we checked in and as a Priority Club member I received an envelope which contained a questionaire and one chocolate, now they know there was 4 people and that we had 2 rooms but to be fair there is only one priority club member. We got to the room and one of the rooms hadn't been cleaned, the bed was unmade, toilet had been used and not cleaned, rubbish on the floor. We went to reception and told them and the lady on reception was very helpful and changed our room. We also discovered that there were no smoking rooms which is fair enough but when you have to wake up, whip some clothes on and go all the way downstairs to smoke it's rediculous. The other room that I had booked had no complimentry showergels, shampoo or anything and had a massive crack in the sink. The rooms were very old fashioned and the bed was very hard. The next day we put our towels on the floor in a pile and went down to breakfast and they charge £15.00 per person for a full cooked breakfast that was just plain awful! The eggs were like rubber and the croissants and danishes were stale. Not something you want for that sort of money. We then went out for the day and came back for our second nights stay and one of the rooms had the towels changed however the other hadn't. Thought maybe we were supposed to put a sign up to say room needs servicing though no such sign exhisted. Oh, and if you're wanting to drink just don't bother with the hotel bar, it cost £15 for 4 drinks. Overall I would say the staff were very friendly but everything else was just plane terrible.

Paid £99 including breakfast and was disappointed in a number of ways. Firstly, on arrival I noted that the exterior had been rebranded and therefore hoped that the rooms would also have been freshened up. The sad thing is I think my room had been but it was hard to tell (as if the problems had just been covered up). Room window would not shut (and reporting it to reception proved useless), the restaurant got my dinner order wrong, served a cloudy beer and then had the cheeky to automatically add a service charge. Just not that good really - though on the plus side they no longer have the cheek to charge you for parking!

According to a recent ad campaign, Holiday Inn is redoing all of its hotels, and I hope this one is on the list very, very soon. The staff was great, very accomodating and friendly, and quite frankly deserve a better hotel. The elevators were very slow, the hallways were quite worn and the furniture and fixtures need updating. There was a large portable fan in the room, indicative that it gets pretty warm in there apparently. The bath fixtures were very dated and the whole place just looked in need of a refresh. The staff could not be nicer, but the hotel needs some TLC. I can't say I'd recommend it to a friend, but I've stayed in a lot worse places!

Booked as a two nights b&b with dinner one night break at a very good rate on the Holiday Inn website.
Location is 1 mile from Leamington Spa, 2 miles from Warwick on a business park. Probably too far to walk comfortably to either but the canal/river to Warwick is only 5 mins walk away. Huge Sainsburys, other shops + KFC/MacDonalds also 5 mins walk.
Check in/out quick and friendly.
Two double bedded room was OK size and bathroom modern - both were clean. However, window only opens a fraction and there's no aircon so it did get very warm. No fridge but ice machine on 1st floor...which was broken. However, when I told the receptiontist she immediately went and got me a big bucket of ice from behind the bar. Only 2 teabags in a family room seemed a bit mean though!
Breakfast was a good buffet selection of cereals, fruit etc. + hot cooked English.
The inclusive dinner was either 3 courses form the daily menu (£20) or an allowance of £18 from the main menu. Food on this was quite pricy - most main courses were about £14 so you'd struggle to get 2 courses, let alone 3. Drinks prices were also on the high side. However, children eat free and can have 3 courses if they want. Food quality was overall pretty good.
The main reason for the break was to visit Warwick Castle (reviewed elsewhere) and at the rate we got this hotel served the purpose very well.
