“Lovely friendly little hotel”
Reviewed 9 April 2014

Stayed here twice now. Both times thoroughly enjoyed this very pretty little town centre hotel with friendly helpful staff. Lovely rooms, very pretty with character. Small car park but on street parking with permit available if needed but I've always found a space in the car park.

My wife and I recently stayed in this small and friendly hotel for one night only! It's location was excellent but on a very busy and noisy road junction. We were greeting by the enthusiastic manager, Ben who sorted out car parking and reception details. The property is old like most of the properties in Leamington town centre and needs a little upgrading? However, it was clean and tidy and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was really good with the staff catering for all tastes!

Room Tip: Suspect a room at the rear would be quieter?

One night stay.Found the location excellent for the nearby town however it is located on a busy junction. I was greeted by the very enthusiastic owner/staff.This place is an old property as per the town however does need a little upgrading although it was very clean.the bathroom I had was clean and every effort is made to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The breakfast was well cooked and the staff very caring and dedicated to serving you the quality breakfast.Caters for everyones tastes I suggest no complaints here.Would probably stay here again for business but not for a weekend with my partner due to the decor in the bedrooms but the owner/staff make this place very helpful kind and you can see that thought as gone into the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back and away from the very busy crossroads

I’m very much a fan of the small hotels as opposed to the big chain ones as I think they have more character, and generally more of a homely feel. I was therefore looking forward to my stay at the Angel which seemed to fit this description perfectly, although after my stay I was left with mixed
feelings.

On the plus side, the hotel is really good price – I don’t think I paid much over £50 for B&B which for a room around here is really good value – almost half the price of the aforementioned chains. However with this low price comes a compromise, as the accommodation was looking a bit tired and could probably do with some updating.

Breakfast was a bit of a let down too – I pushed the boat out and had bacon but it was a bit overdone/hard when it came out so not the best. Eggs were done well though.

If I was the owner, I’d probably look to spruce up some of the rooms a bit more and charge a tiered rate – by modernising the bedroom, updating the bathroom, putting in a bigger, flat screen tele etc. There’s plenty of room to be charging more in price to cover these extras, and I don’ t think there’s any shortage in demand (I tried twice previously to get in but was fully booked). But then perhaps that’s not the market they are after.

I probably wouldn’t go back here again as I’d prefer to pay out that bit more and have the ‘luxuries’ that I’ve grown used to in a hotel, but if you are on a budget, and after a bargain hotel then I would recommend this as a place to go.

we stayed for one night saturday 22 February. the hotel is in a brilliant location, being a five minute walk from the town centre. the hotel was very clean and well decorated, our double room was clean and ver comfortable. the staff couldnt have been more helpful and the breakfast was very good and plentiful. however.. one problem. to echo a lot of other reviews on here, the hotel was like a sauna, especially the dining room at breakfast. God knows what it would be like in July. that apart, we had a very pleasant stay and leamington itself is a lovely town.

We stayed for one night at The Lansdowne, where we were greeted by Ben at check-in. He made us feel very welcome indeed and we had a nice room on the 1st floor. Everything was spotlessly clean, but the room was so so hot even after the radiator was turned off. The window could not be opened so we didn't have a very comfortable night, but the hotel is in such a good location, so very clean, and has such nice and helpful staff that we will definitely return, but maybe choose a stay in the summer next time. The breakfast was good too with a nice selection of cereals, yogurts, fresh and tinned fruits, fruit juices and a Full English breakfast.

Room Tip: Ask for a room where the window can be opened, or ask them to turn the heating off in the room alloc...

Although the room was adequate it was far too hot and when you walked into the hall it was like being in a heat wave somewhere. The breakfast was really poor quality ingredients. It was not a good experience.
