Description: The Jug and Jester is a JD Wetherspoon freehouse opened in November 2010. Some of the pub occupies Leamington's first theatre, first opened in 1813. In recent times the building has been a pub, first as the Spirit Vaults, then as the Chair and Rocket (locally the Monkey house!) and finally as the Jug and Jester in 1996. We have a lovely, secluded beer garden to the rear for the sunny days (when they appear!) and open fires to keep you warm in the winter. We come recommended in the Good Beer Guide for our ales and we have a regular changing selection both from the local area and beyond.

“Decent spot”

Since this place has been renovated and turned into a weatherspoons place its now clean, decent selection of drinks, and very reasonable price. Happy Customer.

“Pub grub at its very best!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 December 2013

Wow! A gourmet burger meal and a pint for less than £7! My local village pub charges just under £7 for a medium glass of Shiraz and half a pint! So going to the Jug & Jester where for that sort of money you get a substantial meal with a drink thrown in for free, represents outstanding value for money. What's more, for an extra quid you can double up on the burger! This was our second visit to the J&J and won't be our last. On both occasions we visited on Sunday evenings when the pub was perhaps less busy than earlier in the day. The service was first class, the drinks and food arrived promptly, but we didn't feel rushed, and the meals were all nicely presented and hot. So if the Jug & Jester can produce such excellent quality and value for money, why can't more place manage it? Our most recent bill for 4 meals, extra onion rings and 4 proper drinks (inc 2 glasses of wine and 2 pints) was a miserly £31!

“A decent Wetherspoons”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 November 2013

I am not a fan of the chain, but this old town pub has managed to retain it's old pub style and not be a Wetherspoons drinking house. Always a good range of ales and the usual pub food.
