Loved everything about The Ashton. It's a wonderfully stylish yet comfortable place to stay. We stayed in the very impressive attic room with an incredibly ,comfortable, huge bed. James is a superb host with an obvious flair for design as well as hospitality. Our breakfast was delicious and plentiful. I would love to return.

Room Tip: The attic room is very spacious .

It was a fantastic experience staying at The Ashton; something that we have never found before on our many visits to Lancaster. James could not be more helpful, and was always on hand offering a cuppa or glass of wine. Breakfasts were varied and truely delicious, made with top class ingredients. The room had everything that we could wish for, and more, with lots of thoughtful touches. Most important of all, the bed was so comfortable and large that a good night's sleep was guaranteed. Oh, and the house is stunning. We will definitely be back to experience more of this beautiful, luxurious B&B.

The Ashton is fantastic. Nothing is to much trouble, home made cake and fresh tea on arrival. The decor is top notch and the surrounding grounds are picturesque. The rooms are excellent very contemporary. Breakfast offers so much choice and is one of the best I have had. I would highly recommend and will definitely be going back.

We chose because it was halfway to Glasgow. We stayed on the way up & on the way back. We were so lucky to find such dedicated excellence. Everything gets our five stars. Most of the reviews mention things like the carrot cake on arrival, the brilliant furnishings and the incredibly comfortable bed-all the 5 star reviews time & again support this view. Actually the breakfast was the the best we have ever been offered anywhere. So if you want to stay near Lancaster then you HAVE to stay here !!

Room Tip: we had the large room with double wet room shower !!! But I think all the rooms offer something spe...

We always try and spend some time here on our visits to Lancashire. Our two-night stay was as good as ever, from the warm welcome, complete with wonderful carrot cake and glass of wine, to the comfy bed and excellent breakfasts. As you arrive through the entrance, the peaceful atmosphere takes over, and this never fails to soothe after braving the worst that motorways can dish out these days. We wouldn't want to stay anywhere else!

Celebrated our anniversary here after reading the reviews - glad we did as everything that folk have said is right! Arrived earlier than anticipated - not a problem. Warm welcome by James and Elvis (the cat), tea and freshly brewed coffee and the best carrot and pineapple cake ever. Happily ate whilst watching the squirrels and robins in the garden. Had a downstairs room - lovely, with quality furnishings and tastefully decorated. The little extras where fab - particularly the "little something in the ice bucket" chocolate coated strawberries (wow they were good!), delicious biscuits and best of all REAL milk! Loved the bathroom - particularly the under floor heating and one of the best showers ever. Hubby preferred the bath - interesting really as he's 6' 3" but we both agreed that the candles, quality toiletries, cotton towels and dressing gowns meant we really didn't want to leave! Breakfast is amazing - fab choice and quality. Best "full English" ever - and being well travelled that says everything. Thanks James,

I echo the other reviews, hotels should be run like this. A warm welcome, lovely reception rooms, well-thought out room with quality furnishing and very comfortable bed, and brilliant generous breakfast the next morning. An imaginative fruit salad, good bakery items, good not cheap tea, well brewed coffee. It's certainly worth breaking your journey for this. I think I'll be back next year and do that walk across the sands at Morecambe Bay. I'll need a haven after that!

Room Tip: The house is well set in its grounds so I would think it wouldn't matter which room you were giv...
