Lovely relaxing weekend away

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 15 Sept 2019via mobile
I have just returned from a wonderful couple of nights at this hotel, where I took a friend for her birthday. We booked the Summer Special 2 night break, with a great breakfast (choice of Cumberland or Lancashire sausage and streaky or back bacon, range of eggs etc) and evening meal on the first night. We used the spa facilities, but there was limited availability for treatments (my fault, we left it until last minute to try and book). We lazed around on loungers in the sunshine and enjoyed a swim and the outdoor hot-tub, read our books, ate delicious food and slept a lot - just what we needed! The hotel had taken care to put us as far away from a wedding that was taking place there too, in the quiet zone, which was thoughtful. Staff in the bar and restaurant were pleasant, friendly and attentive, especially Connor and Josh who looked after us so well. I hadn't realised the hotel was so child and pet friendly. We will definitely visit again, if only to take full advantage of the huge bath in our lovely suite/studio!

Thanks to everyone for making us so welcome.

so to start on a pleasant note, pleanty of parking, fabulous staff! big rooms with everything you need, all in all a lovely hotel. only down side for me was after booking a 2 night stay for my husbands birthday and hoping for a "spa" weekend i realised you had to ring a different number to book spa treatments so on doing so they told me they were fully booked for the whole weekend. i realise that this isnt something that can be avoided but would of found it helpful if someone could of informed me of this when i booked the hotel. so we didnt actually spend much time in the hotel its self as there is only so much time you can spend in a swimming pool.

Room tip: if you are booking to use the spa make sure they have availability before booking a room

Dear Amy R,

Thank you for you recent review.

I am sorry that you were unable to book any treatments in our Sandpiper Health Club, unfortunately it can get very busy and is often booked a number of weeks in advance.

I would ask that if you are looking at coming to Lancaster again that you please contact me directly and I will happily look at dates with availability in the Sandpiper Club and will personally make all the arrangements for you.

Kindest Regards

We looked forward to the Murder trial with dinner evening. Sounded so unusual! Place packed to an uncomfortable level so many others had thought the same. Was a bit staggered that the tickets were £65 each but hey, it is an experince! We had a jury (well a table for 12 lovely friends) so were in a great frame of mind. Also, very hungry it was Friday night after work after all! We found the dinner was two courses only no starter, only a main and pud. When the courses came they were starter / taster sized. We were so hungry after the 'dinner' we could have eaten the tablecloth! I had asked for a vegan meal but it looked a bit cheese like to gave the item to a friend. Pud nice, vegan 'cheesecake'. For £65 I expected a decent sized 3 course meal? Even the entertainment involved buying a £2.00 information booklet to take part. Wow, should have been provided? All this said the concept was great, really enjoyed the emersive experince it was like being in court. At this price and the poor portion sizes I won't be rushing to another despite enjoying the evening! Maybe a thought for future events- value for money? It really was not worth paying so much due to the poor meal and the pityful amount given.

Dear KAREN B,

Thank you for providing feedback following the Murder Trial that you recently attended.

Firstly please accept my personal apology that the food portions were not as you expected, I have raised this with the Chef and asked that he revisit the agreed portion sizes to ensure they meet our set standards, normally these are more than adequate and we very rarely receive negative feedback in relation to portion size.

For complete clarity this event was not organised by the hotel and the hotel had no input into what was served, what was charged etc, we were simply booked by the organiser's to provide the menu and the amount of courses that were ordered at the price point they required.

In response to the pricing of future events, we run a number of our own events including Murder Mysteries, tribute nights and these are priced from £35.00 and always include a 3 course choice menu, an arrival drink and the entertainment, these events are perhaps more traditional in style than the one that was ran by ''Murder Live'' however they offer fantastic value for money and a great evening out.

I would ask that you consider returning to experience one of our own events and I would be more than happy to assist in arranging this so that ultimately you can be part of a Lancaster House run event and hopefully we can regain your faith in the hotel, to discuss this matter further or to arrange attending a future event please contact me directly at the hotel on 01524 844822

What a lovely hotel. We picked lancaster house as it looked a lovely hotel in a good location to visit The Lakes, Morcambe and Blackpool.
However, had a 2 day /night stay and didn't leave hotel!
First day we just relaxed and enjoyed surroundings and drinks, hotel is beautiful. 2nd day we went to health club. First we went outside to the outside jacuzzi and bubbled for half an hour. Followed by a steam room session then showered. Then into indoor jacuzzi, followed by a relaxing swim in the pool. Hotel supplies towels and yet again, everything to a high standard. Loved it!
Only negative was we didn't book bed and breakfast so paid which was £16 per person, but breakfast wasn't very good. Just niggley things like no fried eggs, running out of juice, had to ask for tea spoons after they gave us our coffee and running out of sauce. All things we can live with, but not worth the cost.
However, ate both night in the restaurant which was spot on. Food and service excellent. Would definitely go there again.. Thanks for a loverly stay.

Dear grahambirk1234,

Thank you for providing feedback following your recent stay with us here at Lancaster House.

I am obviously pleased to read that in the main you enjoyed your time and were able to make use of all of the facilities we have to offer.
In relation to breakfast I have spoken with the Restaurant Manager as the items you have highlighted should not have occurred and I have asked that he reviews this with the team, the fried eggs are cooked freshly to order and this should have been explained when you were seated by a member of the breakfast team please accept my sincerest apology for these shortcomings.

I look forward to being able to welcome you both back to the hotel in the future and if I can assist in arranging this for you please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

We got upgraded to a suite and it was absolutely lush with a huge bathroom and a little living room area where we sat and watched TV. Got early check in and had a lovely few hours swimming and relaxing in the hot tubs and steam room. Veggie breakfast was lovely!

Dear Go61284,

Thank you for your recent review of Lancaster House,

I am glad to read that in the main you had an enjoyable time with us and that the staff made such a positive impression on you. With regards to the lack of a lift, almost 50% of the bedrooms at the hotel are located on the ground floor and we are always happy to allocate these in advance up on request, so please if you are planning to stay with us again and a ground floor room is required simply contact the hotel directly and we will happily arrange this for you.
