“Nice Hotel”
Reviewed 26 March 2013

We only stayed one night but we were very impressed with this hotel. We had a lovely large, quiet and comfortable room. Lots of free parking and very convenient for the motorway. Quick and friendly check in. We booked several months before and the room rate was unbelivably low. Thank you

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Lancaster in March 2013 it is about 2 miles walk along the canal into the City. It is also an ideal location to visit the lakes. The hotel is a little dated and could do with some minor repairs but I think this applies to most hotels in the current climate. The room was more than adequate, we got a room on the front of the hotel so asked to be moved to the back as there was a lot of road noise and we were moved without a problem. The breakfast was good and overall the service was good. Would stay there again if in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for room at the back of the hotel as it is right on a very busy road.

Dear tia029

The Holiday Inn Lancaster does benefit from a great location as you mention, which is one of the reasons guests choose to come back time and time again. We very much hope you will do the same and thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

I was there for a week, for work reasons.
Rooms are like all holiday inn, exept that the room are randomly done every day, but nothing dramatic (one day they forgotten towel and soap)
The sound between the next room is making you "enjoy" the life of your neighbours, so it depends who you have next to your room.
Internet connection didn't worked all week, and I had to go every single day to request an other access, and had everyday the staff moaning at me. (Thanks, but I am not your IT services! I am the customer, I should be the one moaning and I did not!)

One the restaurant side, it is an other matter:
More than an hour to be served for dinner (despite the restaurant is lest than half full)
The food is just average, and some choice are really poor... Meet never cook as request (and far from it!)
The worst is the wine, as 2 of us as glasses that were not even drinkable)
They don't even bother asking you if you want a desert (but who will want one after been sat there for more than 2hours...)
They automatiquely charge you 10% for services, which you have to argue to take off. When you tell them why you are disappointed, nothing comes out. Coming from France, I am used to poor services, but this place is not at an expected standard at all!

Room Tip: Avoid the one on the first floor up to the conference hall as they do party there.

Stayed at Holiday inn, Lancaster for one night. Rooms good value for money, however bar/restaurant very expensive- £5 for a bacon bap. £9 for a 250ml glass of wine! Very pricy for a budget hotel! If you need a reasonable and cheap bed for a night then go here, but head into the city for tea!

We have stayed here a number of times over the years on our way to / from the Isle of Man ferry at Heysham and have found that the hotel provides a reasonable overnight facility, with the benefit of being very close to the M6 motorway. Last Sunday night was no different from past experiences. Our room was fine and the breakfast buffet provides a nice selection of hot and cold food. The staff are always very pleasant and helpful. However, the hotel's scale of charges for wireless access is extortionate so we did not bother with it. We will stay there again due to the convenient location

Room Tip: Rear of hotel is quieter and overlooks the river

We booked a superior room as we had stayed in this hotel before, when travelling, and the standard rooms are very small. When we checked in we found the toilet did not flush and asked to be changed. The second room was not so good as the first, but the toilet did flush! Bathroom clean with no mold, bed very comfortable (but only a double even in a superior room), however the room was somewhat 'tired' and there were some stains on the easy chair. I asked for a facecloth (noted could be requested on the room shedule) to be told they had been sent away to the laundry on tuesday and had not returned - this was saturday. The breakfast was good and the service also good. This hotel is adequate for an overnight stay if you are travelling but does have the feel of a more budget level hotel or lodge. Pool and gym very good.

Room Tip: Book a superior room and if you want it to be quiet ask for a room overlooking the back of the hotel...

Stayed for a couple of nights while we re-visited the area.
The room was clean and spacious. The breakfast buffet was good, the staff constantly replenished the food and took away dirty plates.
Had one meal in the restaurant, good food, although very quiet for a Friday night.

There is a good path behind the hotel, alongside the river into Lancaster, as it was a sunny morning we left the car behind and walked into town. (approx 2 miles)

Would recommend the Blue Moon Restaurent, which is Thai Cuisine. Had a very reasonable business lunch, food was excellent.

Room Tip: The riverside rooms are quieter.
