“Cheap and Cheerful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 December 2013

We stayed on Boxing Day for one night a were allocated room 205. We had asked for a river view, which we did get, albeit across some roofing, which I think was over the top of the pool.
The room itself was clean, the bed was comfy and the tv was a big flat screen. If you want to use the wifi, there is an extra charge. The most disappointing part of our stay was that the pool/Jacuzzi was closed, and this was one of the reasons we had booked this hotel. It was mentioned on the website in small print, but the management were less than apologetic, although they did give a small discount on our room charge.
Everything else was great. The hotel is located within a short distance of Lancaster town centre, and the breakfast buffet was yum. I would go to this hotle again, but not on Boxing Day.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view at the back of the hotel.

I stayed here for one Saturday night in December and was impressed.

There was plenty of car parking available at the front of the hotel and I was checked in quickly. I was allocated a room on the ground floor of the hotel.

The room itself was very clean, spacious and well maintained with no visible housekeeping issues. The bathroom was one of the cleanest I have seen in a hotel in a very long time.

In the evening I ordered room service which was delivered promptly and had been freshly prepared and tasted very nice. I also had breakfast in the morning and found the choice available to be excellent and again fresh with the buffet topped up regularly.

I had a very good nights sleep and found the bed to be comfortable. There was a little noise until around midnight due to the Christmas party nights that were taking place, however it was not excessive and through the night there were no disturbances.

Checking out in the morning was very quick and hassle free.

Overall a very good visit with friendly staff and a very comfortable room which was very clean. I will definitely be staying again.

I recently stayed at this particular holiday inn after staying at others, the standards were well above some others ive stayed at. All in all good but the way the house keeping manager talks to his staff is disgusting, it was like he was on a power trip shouting at his staff, very unwelcoming an rude to anyone over hearing... apart from that incident a very nice hotel

Stayed overnight in December. Very easy to find as just off M6. Staff were very friendly and helpful and most welcoming. The room was very good sized the only negative for the room is that the furniture needs up dating as looking worn, but the rooms were very clean and the bathroom looked like it had been modernised more recently.

The breakfast was lovely, help yourself, and even had a pancake maker. Did not get to use pool and gym as no time but they looked good.

Stopped one night on the way up to Carlisle from Gloucestershire. A lovely spacious hotel, very friendly & helpful staff and just the job for an overnight stay. We used the pool and Jacuzzi, a real bonus and treat and slept well in the spacious and comfortable room - lovely beds! Plenty of free parking and delicious breakfast to set us up for the next day's travelling - would definitely recommend!

As a family we had seven rooms booked. The Hotel manager was always around and nothing was too much trouble, after an horrendous journey, her friendly greeting was most welcome. All the staff made you feel at ease and little things were done without asking. The room was ready on arrival, and we were shown to it with a minimum of fuss. It was large, spotless and warm. The reception staff provided us with maps to get to our venue and bus timetables to get into Lancaster. The dinning staff met you with a smile on their faces and made you feel special. The food was outstanding and plentiful. I would rate this stay as 6 out of 5

We stayed here for one night on a Saturday as we were visiting the area.
OMG what a lovely hotel. From the outside it looks slightly dated. Please don't let it put you off.
We stayed in a exec room as we are a rewards members, the room was spotless as was the whole hotel. the bed was so comfortable and the staff just lovely.
We used the pool and the facilities and they were Spotless too.
All in all a fantastic night away, we will be back!
Rebecca on reception was just lovely, the restaurant staff , the housekeepers and the leisure staff..
A big pat on the back to you all needed.... thanks again!
