“Beautiful Cottage”
Reviewed 8 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

I would like to thank the owner (Joe) for arranging at short notice for me and my family to stay in this beautiful cottage. It's a lovely modern cottage that is very clean and comfortable for a young family.
My wife loved the fire (even in the summer she asked me to light it ) and my young girls loved the board games that where there for them to play rather than using there electrical game consoles they have, it reminded me and the wife of our own childhood playing family board games while on holiday (nice touch in our view) and my girls loved every morning meeting the chickens and ducks that where outside freely roaming around the grounds of the property
Lovely area to visit, nice friendly pub in the village that does fab food and only a short drive into Lancaster and no more than 30minutes up the road from Kendal so ideal location to be based for exploring, cycling, walking etc
We would definitely be looking to stay again and hopefully for longer next time

“Perfect Base for a Cycle or Walk”
Reviewed 26 November 2014 for a stay in May 2014

I stayed for a long weekend at Grooms Cottage with a friend to some cycling in the local area as there are several cycle paths in close vicinity to the cottage as well as easy cycle route access to the Lancaster Canal.

On arrival we were pleasantly surprised by the location and the cottage itself which is tastefully decorated and I would note spacious than the pictures suggest. The kitchen is new and well equipped with an induction cooker and all the utensils we needed for our stay.

We unpacked and headed out on to the cycle path which is a 5 minute ride up the hill and over the small bridge. Here we found a newly paved cycle path that leads us all the way in to Lancaster alongside the river Lune. This is also walkable if you are that way inclined. Tempted by the aqueduct that crosses over head we climbed the stairs joined the Lancaster Canal up to Bolton-Le-Sands. We found this a perfect ride dotted with peaceful canalside pubs and friendly barge enthusiasts. We found location a perfect base for a gentle cycle as we were not on a main road for longer than 5 minutes in a full day's cycling.

Once back at the cottage we locked the bikes up outside and were pleased to find a modern style wet room with roasting water. During the evenings we were able to open the patio doors and dine on the porch as it was a pleasant evening. The location itself is peaceful without being secluded. For people who like the modern trappings there is fast wifi and on demand movies.

There are two bedrooms each with a generous bed and cupboard space all new, very clean and tastefully decorated. I found the bed exceptionally comfy and had an excellent nights sleep.

On the Sunday we took a walk on the trail towards Lancaster the same way we had cycled but straight on. We found this a pleasant morning walk in to the Historic town for lunch.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is the perfect place to go to relax and enjoy a slow pace of life with simple access to established bike paths and walking trails. I will definitely be going back in 2015 to explore more.

“Lovely, warm cottage”
Reviewed 5 November 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We stayed here with family in half term. It is lovely and warming, has modern amenities and lovely furniture. Lots of walks around and about. Ideal if you want to be on your own and also not far to travel to Morcambe or the lakes. I would highly recommend this lovely cottage, you won't be disappointed.

“Refurbished to a high standard - perfect for a relaxing break”
Reviewed 15 September 2014 for a stay in May 2014

A tastefully refurbished cottage a few miles outside of Lancaster, it was perfect for a relaxing weekend away.

The property is finished to a high standard and is only a ten minute walk from shops/pubs and a short taxi ride to Lancaster.

Would recommend for a relaxing few days away, and will be staying there again.
