Owner description: DZG is unique… a home to more than 1300 animals, and has nigh on 200 species, including some of the rarest creatures on Planet Earth. Hundreds of exotic and endangered animals inhabit an ancient wooded hillside, with a rich geological history, around the ruins of the 11th century Dudley Castle and share a site with the world’s largest single collection of Modernist Tecton structures – and the country’s only vintage chairlift!

The Zoo and Gardens are a bit run down but there were signs of building in progress and it looks as though it will take a lot of time and a lot of money to upgrade.

Having said that though we spent three hours here and to be fair it was a good experience.
The Chair lift was very good and the castle was worth a visit
So all in all Not a bad place to spend a few hours
First thing you notice are the family of Flamingo.
Then the family of Baboons with their Two week old Baby
The Lemur wood Walk
Sow Leopards Tigers Lions Lynx etc
The Meerkats with One always on Lookout
Very Good to be fair

Lovely place with a lot of animals , pathways and small but beautiful castle on top of hill. Only little bit disappointed they don't have elephants, rhinos and other massive animals and only couple big cats . But in general very satisfied! Worth to go!

Pretty much nothing has changed in the last 40 year's I've been to here. Some of the animal enclosures are terrible and far too small. Other larger areas have been closed for years.

This zoo is being slowly modernized, and it shows. There are some places that are clearly run down, but the work carried out so far is to a high standard. They are slowly adding more and more animals to the zoo as the work allows.

The lift to take you up to the top part of the zoo is the next thing to be modernized and will be a great thing as there is a lot of walking if you visit this zoo, most of which is hilly, so if mobility is a problem, its worth checking out the website to see if its suitable for you.

There is a small fair for the children, but its a token system so quite expensive.

There is a couple of places to eat, but again quite expensive so we will be taking a packed lunch next time.

A nice zoo, with a range of animals, it will be stunning when completed.

We come past the zoo when we arrived at our hotel and come back the next day.

Signs where alittle bad. Disappointed that you could go thru the main entrance as it looked lovely.
We used the old cable chairs to go up they are great hope they never stop using them.
We walked round for hours, the price was good giving the fact you have the zoo and castle in one place.
We didn't see as many animals as it was a very hot day and they was most inside or laying in the shade.

It is undergoing a big refurb by the looks of it tho so we will be back again soon.

Did live the fact you can walk into the lemur enclosure tho.
