Second time I've stayed here and if I wasn't totally impressed the first time, this time was if anything even less impressive. It's not the staffs fault, they are lovely, typical welcoming friendly Brummies. The place is just tired. The dark dingy decor, and lack of real light in the rooms is just depressing. The food has never been great here and again breakfast and corporate lunch were bland and average at best.

The worst thing though has to be the TV service. You get the five terrestrial channels and sky sports. Not even free view channels are available, and the picture is so snowy that it was like stepping back into the sixties. How they can charge so much and not provide a decent TV service with a picture that doesn't bring on a headache after half an hour is beyond me, to be honest its pathetic.

The Village has had its last chance with me and in future I will stay at the current Premier Inn half a mile away or when complete the new one that is being built almost next door to the Village. Again this is no reflection against the staff who are great.

Having never eaten here before we took a risk at inviting 27 guests to celebrate a 60th Birthday on April 14th in the Verve Bar & Grill.
A risk definately worth taking. The 5 course Sunday Lunch went down well with everyone (even the fussy ones). Steven our waiter was a joy. Always smiling and having a laugh. All staff were pleasant and helpful. The Birthday card was a nice touch.

Dear Lynn B

Wow, a group of 27 and everyone was happy.. It is so great to hear that the team did such a good job, especially Steven. Thank you for your custom, and for your comments.

If you let us know when you will be returning that would be great.

Check in was fine no problems at all
Stayed in an upper deck room which was a walk basically around the whole hotel got lost 1st time trying to find the room.
Room smart up to date could do with a new lick of paint but was fine what we wanted, only one set of towls so rang reception and they brought some more up.
Pool & health spa nice could have been a bit warmer and changing rooms could do with a good old clean.
Booked a few weeks before at a good price as look for the same package we had got the night before we stayed and the price had doubled?
Paid for 2 nights bed & breaki and evening meal on the 1st night.
Dinner on the 1st night in the on site resturant was ok, asked for our childs meal to come out with our starters they forgot to do this so this came out with our mains. Then mains came out wrong which was sorted straight away. If we have had to pay full price for meal and not just the extras we had on top I would not have been happy.
Breakfast was ok food warm Not hot so went for cearal the next day.
The next night we went for dinner on the large complex which is a 2 min walk from Hotel. This has lots of different places to eat.
Slepp was a hard thing to get as where the Upper deck rooms where round the back of the hotel so you are away from the noisy pub on site which you thought would be a good idea. Not as this is where the hotel has all there deliverys delivered. So Monday night 1030pm a truck pulled on site to empty the empty bottles which went on for 1/2 hour right outside our bed room window not happy when you have a 3 year old trying to sleep.
Then the next morning 6am they were having all there new stock delivered which was not a nice wake up call.
Ok for what we wanted.
Check out was ok but they did ntry charging me for something that had been put on to our room but we paid for everything as we went along so they did take this off for us in the ened.
Would maybe go back if it was for a good rate would not pay full rate

Room Tip: Go for upper deck rooms as these were meant to be best so would not wanted to stay in a normal room...

Good stay at this village hotel. Good staff and comfortable rooms with some decent food. Like the village chain and you know what your going to get for your money. Only down side to this trip was the pool was closed. Will stay here again and hopefully get a chance to use the pool.

There was a good offer on the price of this hotel for days we required and was worth amount paid. Room was fine but bathroom had few cracked floor tiles. Room was serviced throughout our stay . Unfortunately heating was faulty in the swimming pool and was freezing, although a notice did state it was not as warm as it should be. We did not stay long as it was uncomfortably cold, but did have nice sauna. Food is expensive in the hotel, and we would recommend using the complex nearby which has a choice of eateries near a bowling alley and cinema. 5 minute walk from hotel. There is also a large Tesco nearby. Breakfast was good but a tea or coffee making facility would be appreciated, It is quite noisy outside with revellers on a Friday night from the Village pub getting taxis etc.

Room Tip: Try to get room away from stairs

Kathy - Thank you for your feedback. We are really sorry that the pool fault led to a closure and a compete refill, this is only the second time in 12 years but it was a challenge and took several days to get back to normal with the temperature etc.

Stayed here on the 7th of April. Hotel was average. Poor check in process, wasn't even asked if we required a newspaper in the morning. Room was OK, could do with some freshening up, strange feet marks on the wall. We paid for dinner bed and breakfast. The restaurant was shut so we had to eat at the bar. Was not ideal as the TV was up full blast. Staff in the bar were not aware of how to process the dinner rate food. It ended up taking two hours to get someone to sort out our food order. Our 3 year old son was not impressed especially when the pub quiz started!

Dear Guest - I was sorry to learn that your Sunday evening stay failed to meet your needs. The Verve Grill closes on Sundays but you should have been made aware of this when you made you booking. I am sorry that this appears to have been not the case. We have shared your comments with the team and will do much better with the issue you had with allocations described in your report. In the meantime, if you would like to email me directly, I will organise a return Sunday stay with my compliments. Kind regards
