The hotel is in an excellent location close to a range of restaurants, cinema, zoo, 24 hour supermarket. Good transport links and not far from Black Country Living Museum and Westfield Merry Hill. Staff were excellent (polite, friendly and helpful). Hotel has a Starbucks coffee shop ( though more expensive than a usual Starbucks) and has a large pool and offers spa treatments. There are other hotels in the area but we chose this one because of the pool.

Having taken opportunity for a swim in the lovely pool, our experience was spoilt by the shocking state of the changing rooms. Broken hair dryers in carrier bags, poor lighting as there were so many bulbs not working, difficult to find a locker that had coat hangers and a fully working door, and the shower areas looked dirty and ill maintained - missing skirting tiles looked like a mouse might appear at any moment. One toilet cubicle even has no door.

With some basic maintenance, repair and attention to detail this could be a lovely hotel, it's certainly got the location, location, location factor.

Room Tip: Upgrade if you can

Had a two course meal in the verve grill, can't fault the food, it was well presented and tasted lovely, only let down was the restaurant was very cold, we asked for the air con to be turned off but they said it wasn't Controlled from the hotel and there was nothing they could do, there were other guests complaining of the cold too, we had planned to stay on for a few drinks after our meal but was too uncomfortable so we left, also the chairs we sat on both broke and had to be changed and we were overcharged for drinks on the bill which was amended when pointed out to the waitress, overall a bit disappointing would not go back.

Thank you for contacting us following your meal in the Verve Grill. I am sorry the restaurant was at an uncomfortable temperature resulting in you departing early. I have personally followed up with the Restaurant Manager regarding this issue.

We have a refurbishment programme in place for the restaurant, I am confident that if you decided to dine with us again the surroundings will be improved.

Kind regards
Katherine Jeffries

We got 2 Nights for the price of 1, i think it was because i rang to make the reservation and not booked on-line which was £85 for 1 night only. Our room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was buffet style and it was well cooked and the presentation was excellent too. I would definately stay again. Tracy T

We came to celebrate a very special birthday which was an unfortunate mistake. We had the most awful meal. The waiter was friendly but completely clueless about food overall as he hardly knew anything about this new appalling menu. He didn’t even know the difference between broccoli and cauliflower, as the broccoli soup turned out to be cauliflower and was just about luke warm. Served with cheap stale bread rolls. The starters came out at different times even though we were only a party of 5. Moving onto the main courses which again came at different times the chicken was completely tasteless and swimming in butter the green beans were way over cooked. But worse of all some of the chicken was under cooked and still pink –the 3 of us who ordered this have fallen ill to some degree so we are guessing it may have been this dish to blame. l am extremely annoyed as l’v have suffered the worse with vomiting severe stomach cramps. The sticky toffee desserts were served cold and were distasteful the chocolate fondant was cold. We came here to celebrate a special event and expected a high standard of food and service however are extremely disappointed im not sure how you can been begin to compensate for ruining our evening and friends birthday. I am considering contacting the local environmental health office as this experience should raise serious questions about the integrity and skills of the chef.

Recently stayed at this hotel over valentines weekend. Overall it was suitable for we wanted as we are not to fussy. however the room was a little disapointment. the window didnt close properly, the bed was very unstable and the shower leeked slightly. for £65.00 bed and breakfast is was fine and would come again but not to pay much more than that. the location of the hotel is brilliant next to lots of restaurants and cinema and not far from merry hill.
The Spa was the best bit about our stay, We did not have time to use the swimming pool but it looked lovely. I had a treatments and the spa area was nice and the staff lovely. the treatment was also VERY good value for money!
Overall I would stay here again but not for any more than £65.00, the place just needs a little TLC. Definatley not somewhere for a treat!

Room Tip: Have a spa treatment if you go, excellent!

Five of us went here to celebrate a birthday by having a meal in the restaurant and what a disappointment that turned out to be. They had a new menu and to honest, the selection of meals was a little odd (pork cheeks, goan curry etc). Three of the group ordered the broccoli soup only to be told seconds before it arrived that it was actually cauliflower soup. On several occasions we asked the waiter questions about the menu and although he was friendly and very nice, he seemed to be totally clueless about the menu. Back to the soup and the problem was that the soup was barely warm and had to be sent back. I ordered the pate with granary bread and even excusing the fact that it can with white bread toasted on one side (and cold), it was incredibly bland. The tempura prawns were however good. Next to the main courses and again the roasted cod and the ribs were nice but the marinated chicken breast was, well, undercooked (it was still pink) and very bland although half a chicken was way too much for one (average) person. The meal was already shaping up to be below average but we had high hopes for the dessert. Three of us ordered the sticky toffee pudding and while we were waiting, I was concerned that I suddenly felt very sick but thankfully that passed before the dessert arrived. Sadly, these desserts were again cold with extremely cheap vanilla flavoured ice cream on top. This time when we sent them back, we told them that two of us no longer wanted them. For a hotel of this standard, the food was quite simply awful. We would have got better food at a pub offering two for one and it would have been much more enjoyable. The odd thing was that when we meet up the next day, two of us had had an upset stomach and one had been up all night with stomach pains... As it was the three of us who had had the chicken, you have to wonder if this could have been the cause. The restaurant is about to undergo a refurbishment, so I would avoid it and if you can't think of anywhere else to go, try it when it re-opens.

Stayed at this hotel on valentines night we arrived and had a pre booked rate,we were quickly checked in as we got to into our room i was surprised at all the marks on the walls it looked like coffee and pop have been thrown up the wall, not what i would expect from a highly recommend hotel, for the price i paid it was not worth it at all. Not to mention that the chair was broken in our room 232 as i sat down i nearly fell off as it was broken. Also the tiles on the floor were cracked and the grouting around the bath was all dirty. I have stayed in plenty of hotels and this was by far the worst i have stayed in. Both me and my partner hardly got any sleep due to the mattress being horrendous. Looks certainly can be deceiving when it comes to this hotel.

Room Tip: Wouldn't book here
