We booked through the site, it was such an easy stay, very helpful. Would definatley recommend eating in the restaurant "magnolia rooms".

A welcome change from the 'corporate' blandness of the budget hotels. The property is well located for the town centre and has loads of character. The rooms are clean, very spacious and benefit from all the usual amenities. The hotel staff are friendly and very helpful. The only big downside is the shortage of car parking.

Room Tip: Try for a room on the Regent Square - a lot quieter!

I am possibly one of this hotel's biggest fans having had my 18th & 21st birthdays and my wedding here. The Regent is on the right side of Doncaster in terms of easy access to all attractions. It is family owned which gives it a warmer feeling than many chain hotels without compromising on the standards and attention to detail you would get in a chain hotel. Many of the staff who work here are long serving which also speaks volumes. The Hotel is deceptively large and the rooms are of a good standard, clean and modern with nice high ceilings which give a spacious feel. I have stayed in the rooms that overlook Regent Square which is really pretty, especially in the summer. The food served is home cooked and of an excellent standard especially the breakfasts and Sunday lunches. If you are looking for a Hotel in Doncaster then the Regent will not disapoint.

Stayed here for a racing weekend, first class service, rooms were spacious and spotless, we struggled to get a taxi to the races so the hotel Manager made two trips and took us, can't recommend highly enough.

I booked Sunday lunch at the Regent for my family - 7 adults, including a very pregnant vegetarian and a 15 month old, on the recommendation of a colleague, and am very happy that I did as it was the most perfect treat.

When I rang to book, I explained that my niece had a number of dietary restrictions due to her condition, and was assured that it wouldn't be a problem and that the chef would create something suitable for her to eat. Knowing that some good restaurants can also be a little "off" with toddlers, I mentioned that we would have my godson with us, and was again told that it was fine and that a high chair would be available.

On arrival, we were warmly greeted by the manager, drinks were served and menus brought to our table in the lounge. Whilst the menu is relatively short, there was the traditional Sunday roast beef and Yorkshires, plus a number of alternatives, including one fish and two vegetarian main courses. When my niece questioned the ingredients in the vegetarian dishes, the manager unhesitatingly brought the chef to our table to set my niece's mind at ease. Once our orders were taken, we remained comfortably seated in the lounge until our starters were ready, and were only then shown to our table.

I had been told that the restaurant has recently been refurbished, and it does show - it's a calm grey, with crisp white linen and sparkling chandeliers. Although it was lunchtime, I could imagine that it would look stunning in the evening once the lights are on. One of my bugbears is being so close to the neighbouring tables that I can almost join in their conversations, but there was plenty of space between our and the neighbouring tables.

Our starters were brought out, and were all promptly polished off, as they were delicious. When the main courses came, we were amazed by the size of the portions. The main dish arrived plated, and then additional vegetables, Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes were brought to the table for us add as we required. Once again the food was freshly cooked, delicious, and the roasties were to die for. When it came to desserts, several of us were too full, but the others enjoyed theirs immensely - including the 15 month old, who insisted on a share of his daddy's sticky toffee pudding and pronounced it "nice" and "yum yum"! Another member of the party said that the tiramisu was the best she had ever tasted... and this from a dessert-aholic!

Although there were a number of parties in, the service was impeccable - friendly, personal and attentive, but without being overbearing.

The downside? Well there isn't one, we couldn't find even the slightest fault with the whole experience. We all agreed that it was the best Sunday lunch out that we can remember, and incredible value for money (a 3 course meal was £15). My partner and I are now looking forward to booking a romantic evening meal in the restaurant, and the whole family will be back for another Sunday lunch before too long.
