“Swimtime disappointment if you have more than 2 children”
Reviewed 19 June 2013

We are a family of 5, 2 adults, 9 year old, 3 years old and a 1 year old. We decided it would be nice to take the children swimming, we have one very capable 9 year old swimmer who has been in swimming lessons since she was 2 and then we have the 2 toddlers who would be with myself and husband. We were turned away from the dome and advised to bring another adult with us otherwise we would not be allowed to swim. Very very poor, shame on the dome for this as there are many families out there who have more than 2 children under the age of 10 and we are expected to take grandma/auntie/uncle etc with us everytime we go swimming. Therefore we visited Maltby Leisure centre and we enjoyed our swimming with our 3 children!

“Always a fun day, despite minor problems”
Reviewed 11 June 2013

Usually go here with my friends and we have a great time. The water can be cold at times but on a warm day the sun shines through the roof and heats the pool. The facilities look clean however they could use a more powerful disinfectant on the floor as I managed to get an unpleasant toe infection. All the slides are good fun. Be careful going down the slide at the far end near the baby pool as one of my friends scratched her back going down it. The two slides which require a height limit can have a bit of a queue forming on the spirally steps which is a bit dangerous as the steps get slippery, and it can get chilly as well. The jacuzzis are nice but often crowded and the water jets can be painful because they are so strong sometimes. The outdoor pool is nice on a hot day and the rapids are so fun however you get strangers accidentally bumping into you when you least expect it. There are plenty of lockers however the more spacious ones may be limited at busy times. Changing rooms are average, quite small. And I am not using the electric dryer again because although it is helpful and really warm, there is a queue of people staring at you while you get dried off which although you are clothed, you still feel uncomfortable. Would definitely go to the Dome again though

“great for skate & swim”
Reviewed 10 June 2013

I've been swimming quite often there, usually accompanied by my husband and our 3 year old. He's loving every minute of it, been there since he was about 1yr. There are lots of pools with different depths and various kind of slides and splashes. they're not all open all the time so check before you enter. there's a baby area where the water is only a few inches high, there are small slides there. water temperature varies but is usually just fine.

“Super swimming session in holidays”
Reviewed 5 June 2013

Its not much in the way of a pool for swimming, but more aimed at kids. They have shallow pools, outside pools, slides & a dj. It gets pretty loud in there but the kids love it. The gym is huge & has loads of facilities. They also run a great many classes. They have an ice skating rink. They also have shows & music conserts

“Donny Groan!”
Reviewed 31 May 2013 via mobile

This was our First visit to Donny Dome in years with my two young daughters. It has changed slightly with the addition of some small
Slides and green paint.

It looks very tired, dirty and in need of renovation. Calypso Cove in Barnsley is much better.

The changing rooms smelt of urine, the tiles around the pool and in the pool were black with mould and the water in the pool was cold.

We lasted just over an hour, most of the slides have a 1.2m restriction meaning the kids were limited to 2 slides.

The atmosphere was loud, music playing and lots of excited kids so if you are wanting a quiet dip, avoid.
