large area, has sections for football, dog walking, also through the summer they have fairs and bouncy castles there through the school holidays. has a reasonable park although not always clean and safe for younger children , has a large boating lake that you can walk around but no longer enter, can also feed the ducks or go fishing and perfect place for a picnic with a smaller park for younger children at the far side with the parking area. right across from kfc, lidle and home barging and bus services run past every so often.

We had passed the place many a time and kept saying next time we have the g/kids we will do it.
So we did.
What a great place and mini adventure land for young kids.
With lots of climbing/adventure activities at the car park side, then stroll around the lake with it's array of wildfowl and other native birds. Upto the top end for the swings and other adventure activities.
We had spent over half a day there, the g/kids loved it so much with the adjoining cafe where kids eat for free.
So much fun for us and them and basically for the cost of an icecream!!
Please take your kids, they will love it and please watch/supervise them around the lake.

When I was a kid and for a long time afterwards this used to be probably the premier park in the town . It used to have row boats for hire on the main lake , a smaller kids size boating pond with canoes and pedal boats etc for children up to about 12 . There was also a small childrens' electric railway and a 9 hole pitch and putt course . In addition there were large open areas , football pitches and the usual swings etc. All this was complemented by a putting green and a better than average park cafe .
All that remains now is the cafe (in private hands and positively thriving ) , the swings etc and the football pitches . Every "activity" facility is gone , even the pitch and putt and the putting green ! Well done to the cafe for keeping the place alive in face of a total lack of council support ! Total shame and disgrace is all that several council administrations deserve for allowing the destruction of public leisure facilities to such a degree . No wonder kids cause trouble with so little to challenge or occupy them !
