Beautiful room with a view
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Aug 2021
Stayed just for one night after visiting the local car boot sale. Have to say the lake is amazing we loved feeding the various ducks, swans moor hens etc with some wild bird seed. We had a fantastic lakeside view from our room too and watched a beautiful sunset over the lake. Very quiet and peaceful stay, lovely modern and clean room. Lots of places to eat very nearby, we chose the Greene King for a carvery. Subway which is just downstairs from the Travelodge do a nice Bacon sub etc for breakfast too! Plenty of parking spots. A lovely short break, thank you! 10/10

Stayed here for one night and no complaints. If you are arriving after 10pm you will need to call a number to be let in but this was answered promptly. plenty of parking and otherwise just what you expect from a Travelodge and their prices. Off a main road so no issues with traffic noise.

Lovely view every morning overlooking a beautiful lake, the room was clean and well kept, however it was extremely hot in the room and although the hotel had removed the douvet and we just had a sheet, there was a fan in the room which we left running all night, but it was still a very uncomfortable for sleeping, I would definitely go back, just not in the summer.

Room was clean, although there was food stuck in the sick drain so I did wonder when it was last cleaned beyond a cursory wipe down, as there was also a strong drain smell. The room was also roasting hot, with nothing but a fan and the ability to have the window open a few cm. I commented on this to the reception team and they blamed the hot weather, although it was cloudy and about 18deg, so lord knows how hot it gets when it's actually hot out!
The breakfast box is really reasonable and we kept the flapjack for later in the day.
The location is great if you're just passing through. It's close to the M18 and A1M, and the lakeside location is fab for a wander round and also makes it quiet. The tapas restaurant underneath looked lovely. The free parking is right outside.
For what you pay, it's good.

Room tip: Ask for a lake view room if you can.

excellent location right on the lakeside (hence the name i guess). beautiful lake and some whopping fish in it too. plenty of food places nearby. and the city centre is just a short drive away. bed and pillows very comfy. bit of a squash in the lift with a bicycle but plenty of space in the room to keep your bicycle.
