“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 May 2014

The check-in was a bit slow but as we were a coach party that was to be expected. The receptionist was very efficient and friendly.

The room was clean and very spacious, although when we entered it, we found it very hot as the sun was shining through the window, but opening the window helped. The room had tea/coffee facilities, a hairdrier and a trouser press and also iron and ironing board! There was a shower and bath and also complimentary toiletries.

The food was very good and with 3 choices of main for dinner and included full English breakfast both buffet style.

The hotel is set in nice spacious private grounds, and the only thing wrong was that you had to walk on the driveway and avoid any cars driving past as there was no path to walk on if you left the hotel.

The hotel is near enough to Doncaster to catch a bus - about 15-20 mins journey.

Overall we enjoyed our stay here, all the staff were friendly and professional and we would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Book a room on the top floor away from the lifts.

My husband and I stayed here on Sunday 4th May on route to Filey. From reception to room service nothing was to much trouble. Very comfy bed and two very comfortable armchairs which were a great asset to the room as in our experience you never usually get.

Checked out this hotel as a potential property to recommend for a group coming over for the Tour De France.

Location perfect for their needs and the hotel offers excellent value for money.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

We were visiting Brodworth Hall close by, and stayed one night, this is a very pleasant hotel, the receptionist was very helpful when we booked in. The room (241) was comfortable , I particuarly liked that there was a choice of soft or firm pillows, when we arrived the room was very hot due to the very large window facing the afternoon sun, and the small window could only be opened a small ammount, however the air conditioning when I switched it on soon brought the temp down. All the facilities in the room were very good. We eat in the restaursn in the evening, though we did laugh a bit when asked if we had a reservation, which we didnt, and were limited to where could sit, no white tablecloth for us, at that piont there was only 2 tables with diners, (not a moan just an observation). The ladie serving us was very cheerful and friendly. The food and service were excellent, we had the 2 for £29 offer which was a starter main course and a glass of wine, terrific value. Our starters were 1 prawns, 2 fried camebert, mains, rissoto and fish , all of which were cooked and presented beautifully.
Only downside to our stay was room 241 was close to some sort of extractor or motor which in the quiet of the night was a constant low pitched hum, but ounce of to sleep was not to intrusive.
Tips _
Could the housekeeper leave the curtains partialy drawn during yhe day on room that face the sun, so they are not so hot on arrival.

Is it possible to switch off the item (motor, fan)that was making the noise after midnight.
These two items are only observations we had a really pleasant and enjoyable stay and would reccomend to others.

Dear 180southcoast

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent stay with us. I was delighted to read that you enjoyed your overall stay and found the team at the hotel to be pleasant throughout.

Regarding your suggestion on the closing of the curtains for the front facing rooms. This is not part of our normal presentation standards for the rooms, however, after last year's particularly hot Summer, we did adopt this method to keep the rooms cool which worked very well and we plan to do so again provided, as we all hope, the weather is just as good this year!

The hum you heard was created in the hotel's main plant room. Unfortunately, for obvious reasons, it can not be switched off but the sound should barely be audible from the guest bedrooms situated close by it. I have asked our maintenance team to look into it as there is a possibility that a piece of equipment in there is not running correctly and creating a louder sound than it should.

In closing, I would like to thank you once again for your kind review and we very much look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future.

Kindest Regards

Very good choice :)
Hotel is as good as you would expect and nice breakfast.About same /slightly better than a good premier inn.

Worked really well as wedding reception party in grounds in a lovely Georgian period mansion meant we could all walk/ stagger to bedrooms after!

Motorway on doorstep but heard no noise in our room 212

I stayed at Holiday Inn Doncaster as we were attending a wedding reception at the Warmsworth Hall, which is in the same grounds. I attended with my wife and two children. The hotel was adequate in every way. The staff were pleasant, albeit service was a bit slow, the room was cozy and clean and the breakfast was lovely. I don't stay at hotels in England very much, so I'm not sure how to benchmark value for money. England can be expensive, and for what it is, the hotel seemed expensive, but perhaps that's the cost of accommodation in the UK. I would recommend this hotel if you are staying as a couple or family and need to visit Doncaster and its surroundings. Not a great deal for your kids to do though.

Dear JoFo74UK

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent stay with us. I was delighted to read that you enjoyed your stay overall and felt the hotel suited most of your needs. I apologise that you felt the service was a little slow on ocassion as this is not a comment we recieve often. Regarding things for the children to do, I was unsure as to whether you meant within the hotel or in the surrounding areas. I don't know if the children had the opportunity to enjoy the pool while you were with us. Our pool has children's swim times and is very child friendly. Otherwise, if the surrounding areas, Yorkshire Wildlife Park is rapidly becoming one of the the must see attractions for visitors to the Doncaster area and I highly recommend it should you ever return.

In closing, I do hope we have the pleasure of welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future.
