We went to Doncaster to watch the horse racing and deceided to go for a meal, we went to the red lion ( our first visit to this place ) the interior is reasonable ,the service was good and the food was very good , this is a weatherspoons pub so the prices are good centainly worth a visit.

I have taken my elderly parents here for the first time near Christmas and it was fantastic. Epworth and the people so friendly and Hotel wow they certainly look after you from start to coming home. Bev the owner and staff are so good it's like being back at home with all the family around you. So we are going again in 2020 all being well and same month.

We went in as a group of 10 friends after racing. It was packed but we managed to get a table thankfully as we wanted food. We ordered snacks bits 3 for £10 which was ideal for what we wanted, the pizza was really nice & chips with curry was delicious. Drinks are cheap too & it's got a good atmosphere. We love a visit to this bar its always a good experience.

This hotel was terrible really. First we got there but we had to queue up outside just to get in the pub because it was a Saturday night and the bouncers thought we were just regular drinkers, then when we actually managed to check in we were shown to our room which I can only describe as very small and was only just fit for Frodo! This was a real shock as we had paid for a double.. Also the room wasn't the best in the way of hygiene as the walls were dirty and scuffed and the heating had a mind of its own and kept coming on in the night to 30°c!! If I had to give this place a positive I would say it was good for your cardio because we were on the top floor and the stairs were steep!! I really wanted to ask for a refund but my wife simply didn't want the confrontation..

Sunday night stay, so was quiet and cheap (£49). Breakfast not included but being a Wetherspoon's a cheap and substantial one is available in the bar. A nice touch is the complimentary bottle of water each, alongside the tea, coffee and biscuits. Also like the central heating which could be reliably adjusted at whatever level required. (So many hotels fail on this) Our first floor room was at the front overlooking Market Square but we heard no noise. However we popped in to the pub for a drink only the previous night (saturday) and it was packed and very noisy. No idea if this affected the room though.

We stayed in room 209 which overlooked a quiet lane but unfortunately next to the staff room. I'm sure that the staff dont mean to be noisy but slamming lockers and the door when they leave aroubd midnight to 1am is not for a good nights sleep.

The bed was comfy pillows softer than I would have liked. It was very clean and smelt ok. Shower was rainfall type so take a cap ladies nothing in the room. Otherwise wet hair.

We would return even to that room but management need to ask the staff to be more considerate to their guests.

Breakfast was very nice in the spoons pub below. See pics
